Not to ruin your day, but where I live in china, it has been going for 4150RMB (669 dollars equivalent) for a while now. I'm just waiting for it to drop below the 650 dollar mark.

It's because when you shoot monochrome on the K5IIs, the information picked up by the sensor is still in color, since the sensor is a color sensor and not black and white. So this color information is still stored in the RAW file even if you picked B&W. Just use software to change them i guess.

I've been wondering about this too...
Does it mean the autofocusing light is off and it would still work as long as i can see it clearly?

I would say "objectivity vs. subjectivity" would've fit the title better.
As to the question, i think its a matter of whether the emotional response to the content or the quality of the shot is more important to you or to the viewer. Personally, i find both quite both are important, but emotional response comes first. ONLY when it achieves an emotional response, then its time to look at the techniques and "quality" that helps bring that emotion out.
So to answer your question, liking the overall appearance is most important, at least for me.

Doesn't Hoya supply the glass to like... one of the best 3rd party lens makers for Pentax, Sigma? I really do hope they do not bankrupt :D

I think better autofocus is, for the daily user, more convenient than the increase in sharpness or bokeh. Buying a DSLR for most is to take pictures to document things, not to make art. So I would say it does make some sense, to choose the camera over the lens.

1 is F... I think. If you look at the whiskers, that purplish color, and compare it to the whiskers in the second picture, which is slightly green, its clearly the older F coating.

Just saying, there was 1 question on mirrorless out of the 15 questions they asked. I do not think this is an overkill to ask whether there would be another k-01 coming. I did not read anything that was overly biased against Pentax either, so hammering them is groundless.
Showerthought: If DPR made a review for the K-mount, it would end up as DPRK...

I think the idea is that while you could crop in post, the feeling of taking pictures in different aspect ratios is different and one might end up with new composition ideas.

The AF is not as good as its peers.. I find that if focal length is not a matter, i tend to grab my FA50 f1.4 more often just because of the more reliable autofocus. Other than that, its a brilliant lens and definitely underrated in the IQ it delivers for the price.

Whynaut K1000? That would be a nice number. I wish Pentax had a clearer naming protocol, like the bigger the number the better the camera (because if we go smaller like how it used to go, then what to do after K-1?)

From what I understand, FA35 seems like the IQ-wise better option? There are a few FA28 fans too...
- 31mm is definitely outside of my price range.
- is the DA35 2.4 IQ-wise BETTER than FA35???
- Do you think it is worthwhile to get both lenses?
To put it into context, I live in China, so pricing for secondhand are:
FA35 280$
FA28 250$
FA31 800+$ (that's why. Just no.)
DA35 2.4 116$
DA35 Limited 360$
Which one would bring the best value?
What do you mean by waste of money? Is it because its optically worse or that it isn't used to its full extent?
