I photographed a local snowmobile race yesterday more for my own experience. The event manager saw me walking around before it started and stopped to talk and asked if I was there for a magazine. I guess carring a 300 f2.8 is abit of an eye catcher as I noticed throughout the day. I told him what he was up to amd he asked if I could shoot for them. I said I would provide some social media stuff for a better spot on the hill and if they wanted print quality later we would talk. Anyways I have since had a few riders ask me via my facebook page if I have pictures of them racing. In both cases I do. I'm jusy trying to break into this a would like to get to the point where I have a decent name for myself and can make a few bu ks. So I have 2 questions:
1. Can I sell photos of these riders who I did not ask permission prior to taking pictures?
2. What do you charge if they want digital copies for their own social media pages and what do I charge if I offer prints?
If anyone has any other insite to offer besides never take photographs for free advice...I'm all hears. I'm in Canada by the way so I understand our laws maybe slightly different than someone elsewhere.

Yep this is the one. In the end I decided to pull the plug on Pentax and went with a Nikon D810. Great lens but Pentax just lacks the Af system and lens selection that Canikon has. Its been a painful switch on the wallet but the difference is unbelievable. I do miss focus peaking and the Pentax arogomics but I'm sure that will fade in time.

Thanks for the help guys. I ordered Venture 35 today. I was not convinced the 30 would be big enough even at that awsome price. Hopefully this one will suit my needs.

Thanks guys for the suggestions so far. I currently have the Mountain Smith Decent sling pack and love it except for the narrow front pocket. It holds all my camera gear except for the 100-300 and I carry the tripod.
I think my plan is to have the camera out with a smaller lens attached and clipped to my pack straps with some brand of arca swiss clip system.
Has anybody tried the Lowepro Whistler bags?
Suggestions on a quality dedicated hiking bag that pouches or a "ICU" could be added to secure the camera gear?

Looking for suggestions on a hiking bag. Needs to carry my camera gear a lunch and some small items (fly fishing tackle) for day excursions away from a weekend base camp. ...my truck.
My camera gear includes k-3, pentax 50-135, sigma 17-50, 50, flash, batteries, cards, filters, a future 100 macro and most importantly and challanging my sigma 100-300 f4 and tripod.

I wasn't expecting the woodpecker to land on the feeder while I was sitting almost under it taking pictures of some other birds with the camera on a tripod. When you already have the 1.4X on the Sigma 100-300 lens there's nothing you can do put zoom out and swing up. Not the most comfortable position to be in bent over looking up. haha

Still here, although there are other lens I would like that fit in my budget in other mounts it's not worth jumping ship for. Pentax still has some of the best pros vs cons reason's to stay.
