I have tried to download the pentax digital camera utility version 4 but it will not let me as it says i don't have the original in my laptop - how do I get this please. Did it come with the disc i got with my K30 (in which case I will have to look for it and install it) or is it another download. Thank you

Thank youso much for the help and photos. I am still on holiday at the moment so will try some programmes later thou I am happy with the ones posted above. It was my own stupid fault and I will be more careful in the future. If it was not raining so bad and I had taken my time I probably would have checked the settings first

I wondered if anyone could help by recommending any software to help me sort out a very underexposed photo. If the photo could be sorted ( I appreciate it may not) I don't mind buying a programme to do it. I was out with my children in a torrential rainstorm so had my K 30 in its case when I got the opportunity to take a photo of my children with a local wildlife presenter. Because of the weather conditions I grabbed my camera from its case, took 3 photos very quickly and put my camera away without checking the results. When I got home I realised the dial on top had accidently moved and the photos were badly underexposed. I now have 3 upset children. I have never edited photos before so wondered if there was anything I could do. The colour seems to have gone so should I make the photo black and white first. Thank you

ND filters

Thank you that is what I wanted to know. I already have a poloriser which I use quite a lot but I use that mainly for cutting out glare and darkening skies. If I can get a full circular one for that price I will be happy. I don't mind buying more expensive ones after I have experimented for a bit ( I find the experimenting the fun part)and tried things out

I have just looked at my photos on the laptop and all my photos have 2 specs of dust on them . I have changed the ienses and it is still there so it is obviously in the camera body. I am on holiday and it is spoiling all my photos. How can I get rid of them. There are no camera shops nearby so can't get someone to look at it for me.

I have put it up to 16mp, I have not started raw photos yet as I feel that is a whole new topic for me and I am still learning how to use the camera. Love reading the comments and trying to take everything on board and finding the whole thing interesting and fun , but taking my time to learn how to manipulate my camera settings and not run before I can walk

Perhaps should have used a faster shutter speed but was trying to keep a good depth of field

Went to the coast yesterday and tried different settings. Please don't judge me on the composition of the photos - I was just trying different settings to see what happened. I I have looked at them on the computer, and am feeling happier. I have decided to increase the pixels and will experiment some more. Thank you for all the advice - I am taking everything on board and taking my time

Thank You for all the advice - I shall take note of everything and try again. I am not expecting to be able to do everything and the fun is trying but was not sure where I had gone wrong but think I know now.

Thank you for the advice. I think I realise that I am going to have to start using my camera properly. I understand about the D of F and shutter speeds from books so I think I shall have to start applying them. I had just started taking some 'general photos' to see what the images came out like so used auto as I (wrongly)assumed the camera would know what to do even if I didn't and was disappointed with the result. Will have another go and see what happens

Thank you I will try to post a photo - what is EXIF. I am eager to learn how to use my camera and am reading books and the manual. I know I have a lot to learn and it will take time - to me that is the point of such a camera but that is why I am starting with everything in auto mode so I can learn the basics and progress gradually

Was so excited with my K30 but been using it today and all the photos are out of focus. it does not look too bad on some but if I close in they are not perfectly clear and they look really bad on the monitor. I am using it in totally auto mode. The lenses are the 18 -50 kit lens and the 50 -200 kit lens but both have the same results. I have the focus on Auto 5 . What am I doing wrong - I am really upset at the moment as I love my camera but expected decent photos in the 'point and shoot' mode. :(

Good Books for beginners

Thank you I will certainly have a look for these books. I appreciate that all the technical knowledge does not necessarily make a good photograph but I just want to know how to use the settings - eg speed, aperture to create the image I want. I am sure it will take many years to get up to your standards but I am going to have some fun with my camera trying. People seem to be really 'into' Nikon and Canon but my local photography shop recommended this for me and it seems a really good camera

Good Books for beginners

My husband has just bought me a K-30 as a present but I have only used a bridge camera up until now. Most of the books and magazines seem more for the canon cameras - are there any good beginners books which are more general. I am really a beginner so nothing too technical.

Thank You
