Thanks for the warm welcome! I think I'm really going to like my stay here.

My photo journey been a long, strange kind of trip. I started in high school with a K-1000 (originally one which was school-issued for photography class, then my parents bought me one of my own).

Said K-1000 (along with the Pentax 50mm kit lens and a POS Hanimex 80-200mm zoom) was eventually stolen by a jilted girlfriend -- a convoluted story in its own right -- and my parents bought me a Pentax ME-Super a few months later.

Some years pass, and the digital age dawned. My first digital camera was a Fujifilm point-and-shoot (forget the model number), with a whopping 1.2 MP resolution (actually a pretty big deal then).

I'll try to make a long story short and skip ahead to two years ago, when I got bit hard by the photography bug again, and decided to get a DSLR. I did a lot of research, but my old friend Pentax didn't really show on the radar (probably due to Nikon's & Canon's dominance of the online discourse, plus ongoing rumors of Pentax's demise).

I tried Nikon first (a D5100). I liked the image quality, but the interface just didn't do anything for me.

Then, I tried Canon (a Rebel T5i). I liked the interface (I still miss the flippy-touchscreen), but the image quality was disappointing to me.

Then, just like Goldilocks, I found "just right," in the guise of a Pentax K-500 kit (priced at $499 US for the camera body, 18-55mm & 50-200mm lenses). Something about this camera just "clicks" with me... forgive the pun. I guess I'm just a Pentaxian at heart. I'm just sorry it took so long to figure it out!

I just purchased a Pentax K-500, and I'm looking forward to getting started with the digital phase of my Pentaxian existence. I once had an ME Super, and a K-1000.
