I can tell it's going to be... I am a "best tool for the job" type person. The only reason I didn't end up with the k-50 or better is because I have to answer to the the little lady.

Hello all, I will get this right out of the way, I know absolutely nothing about photography other than the rule of 3rds and what I've read in Bryan Peterson's "Understanding Photography Field Guide." What spurred this interest in photography and my first dslr purchase (Pentax K-500) was the consumption of my wife's point and shoot camera by our great dane/wire hair pointer puppy. Okay, it was also that we needed something remarkably better than our iPhone cameras to document our adventures and the consumption left a camera void... I wasn't even mad honestly haha. We found the point and shoot rather pointless for most outings as the phones were so convenient. Yet living in the center of the Pacific Northwest (West Linn, Oregon) we found our inability to capture that ocean sunset, waterfall, foggy morning, desert sunrise, etc, etc with any detail, depth, or real quality rather frustrating. That feeling coupled with a Slickdeal for the Canon Pro-100 printer lead to a desire to start filling picture frames with all the adventures and memories that the Pacific Northwest has to offer (which is truly a ridiculous amount.) Then my wife mentioned maybe taking a photography class at the community center and with that seed planted and another Slickdeal for the K-500 I now find myself here with the goal of preserving memories but also become adept enough with our new camera to justify what I have already found to be quite the expensive hobby.
