Myself I use Nikon and panasonic Lumix other than pentax and I love the dynamic range of Nikon and cheaper lens availability and for Lumix I do like the m4/3 size and how I can use it for video. I just have one or 2 lenses for each of those whereas with pentax I have tons.

Sigma 18-35 would be my recommendation. You can get a lot of cheap glass in the 50-100 range, but the 18-35 at 1.8 is great for low light, astrophotography. The lens is very sharp, great bokeh, can't go wrong with it. If you definitely shoot a lot of landscape or night/street photography, don't even think twice about the sigma. disclaimer, I don't own either of them, sorry!

Image is really good. Maybe try popping the highlights a bit more and increase the contrast or microcontrast a bit and see if that improves it

I did end up buying a full frame Nikon especially because I wanted the 85mm lens for cheap. And for Nikon used body and lens would work out cheaper. I got the D600 for 500 bucks, slightly above the price of a used K-3. And full frame is so good. The dynamic range, the bokeh on a 50mm are so much better than the K-3 that I have. I still have my K-3 but now, I'm struggling to use my K-3 because I like what the full frame offers me that much. I might think of buying a used K-1, but I'm still considering it.

Agreed, I wish Pentax would at least give quality 1080p, I can't even entertain the thought of 4k yet. I find it quite irritating that I have to get another camera just for video and lens and the entire setup, and the risk with pentax is if a user switches to Sony and gets set up with Sony lenses, the image quality is pretty good with outstanding video quality and if they just opt for one system, they will switch to sony and Pentax will lose users who want to do video as well.
The entire reason Panasonic and Sony have gained so much following is because of their video capabilities, people vlog and like taking videos and sharing it more than photos now, so its time Pentax did some catch up..

Here is a comparison of the same night scene shot with both the K-3 and K-5 with similar ISO, Aperture. I did this to test the K-3 Improvement over my existing K-5 after I got it a couple of weeks ago. Not only is the noise levels better on the K-3, you also have to consider that if the K-3 24 MP images are resized to the K-5 16 MP size, when the images are resized to 16 MP. See the comparison for yourself. All are 100% crops from the raw images. My focusing was a bit off on the K-3 because it was a manual lens and shot in the dark, Samyang 16mm F2, the aperture for all the shots was f 2.8 and just checked now, the shutter speeds were different, but everything else was the same. That could be what made the difference as i had the shutter automatically metered. Also you might find the K-3 Images are not as focused as the K-5, but thats my manual error. I also did not shoot beyond 6400, so I have no samples at ISO 12800 and ISO 25600 or 51200

I like the design. I'm suggesting some small changes.. Remove the spotmatic camera and put a black background and I think that'll make it look really great.. imho
