This is a Bee Killer Robber Fly (Mallophora fautrix) eating breakfast. I was not aware these existed until a few months ago, but I've seen a few since then and most had captured a honey bee. They will sit still while eating and are easy to shoot but will sometimes fly off with their meal if you get too close. An abelia shrub near a friend's house attracts many bees, wasps, and butterflies, and the robber flies sit and wait.

The owner's wife used it as a club to beat the owner within an inch of his life after he announced that he was switching to Canikon and would have to buy all new gear. The lens then sat in the police evidence lockup until it was used in the trial, where the the judge announced she was dismissing the case and would have even judged "Justifiable homicide" if the owner had croaked.

Very nice shots!
I had been using a Sigma 105mm Macro but recently replaced it with the Pentax 100mm 2.8 WR. Love it. I must agree with TER-OR that a ring flash helps tremendously with macros (even if it flattens the images a bit) because you can get the ring flashes into places where other flashes just won't work.
Here's a recent one that I never would have shot without the Pentax AF080C. |

This girl started following me down the street to the community mailbox about 6 weeks ago. One day I grabbed my mail and look up from it to see her sitting not far from me in the street and she followed me home. When I got back to the house I realized that she might be the same squirrel who I used to see when she was smaller while hanging out in the front yard of the house. Occasionally I would leave her treats in the crotch of the Live Oak in the yard and maybe she remembered me. We call her "Rocky" after Rocket J. Squirrel, the pal of Bullwinkle.

Wow, I just realized that Topaz' office are literally three blocks from my house. Ha!
They didn't sell my email address AFAIK after trying one of their apps a couple of years ago. I un-registered from their emails and they stopped. This week I a trial on Topaz DeNoise and it did the job on a night shot that I underexposed where Lightroom did not.

Very nice shots, Ari. The K-1 and 28-105 look to be a excellent combo.

A few days ago I was on vacation in Guadalupe Mountains National Park when I stumbled and dropped my K-1. A nearby gray fox grabbed it and climbed up a cactus with it. Wait, that wasn't my K-1, it was my GoPro Hero 3 Black. Oh, and it wasn't a gray fox, it was a squirrel...and it wasn't me and not my camera. Recently I did see a gray fox in GMNP though. You Tube |

First let me say that I am not a seasoned fleabay buyer, having only a couple dozen purchases and no sales there. I like to look around mostly and buy the occasional accessory or sometimes take a chance on something extremely cheap that might turn out to be a great buy. This morning I saw a very old M42 lens that I hadn't seen before with 0 bids and very cheap starting price of $100. Hmmmm, I thought, why is the S&H close to $90? As I thought about bidding (before realizing it is an item normally selling for over $1000) I decided to ask why the S&H is so high.
In the reply the guy insulted me by saying that if I was concerned about the S&H I couldn't possibly afford his lens. I replied something about a certain new Pentax body that I had on order and he replied that it wouldn't work on that body. *sigh* More insults followed. He mentioned that it was a collector's lens, never meant to actually be used hence the two thousand dollar reserve price.
The bottom line is that he seems to be a greedy, snotty a-hole who isn't a photog, someone from whom I won't be purchasing a thing. PM me if you'd like to know his name.
Cheers.
P.S. If I've broken forum etiquette I'll delete this. I'm pretty steamed or I wouldn't have posted this.

Based on the prices on the marketplace here it seems reasonable. You might check to see the forum user offerings at similar prices... they may have boxes, manuals, etc. Sometimes that helps sell the item if you decide to do so later.

I'm not even going to look since I expect to receive 3 lenses this week. Then there's the Katz Eye screen I received last week.
