Hello all,
I recently acquired an FA 24-90 as part of a package. It is, however, missing the hood. I know it's a proprietary model, so if anyone has one lying around, I would be interested in it. I would also take the lens for parts if anyone has a non working one.
Thanks

Hello All,
I have the opportunity to acquire an MZ-S but it has a broken aperture mechanism. You can only use lenses with an aperture ring manually. According to the seller it has a broken aperture actuation arm.
So is it worth fixing? Or will it cost a fortune? Would I be better off just paying for a fully functional one?
Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I have 2 MX bodies. I use M and A lenses for the most part. I recommend an M or A 28mm, F2.8. Nice sharp lens. The 35, 3.5 or 2.8 is nice too. Others have recommended the 40 pancake. And the 50 you already have is terrific. I also have a K 20 F4, for ultra wide.
Can't go wrong with the primes.

Hello all,
Does anyone have experience with the Espio Mini (UC-1 in USA) ? I looked through the forums but didn't find much on it.
I like to shoot film and this camera looks nice.
Would you recommend it? More importantly, what would you pay for one?
Thanks

Hello all,
With winter upon us, just wondering how M/A lenses and Takumars handle in the cold. Is there anything to be concerned about if I use them in the cold? I like to do street photography and nature photography in the winter.
Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hello all,
My K500 has developed the dreaded aperture block failure. So I've decided to use my legacy glass with it. I have a few Takumars and some M lenses. It's actually been fun to use all manual lenses. I like to use my limiteds on the K3. Typically I take the 15, 20-40, and 70 as my standard kit.
My question is: What would you recommend for an ultra wide lens to use on the K500? I need one with an aperture ring. The widest I have is the K 20mm F4. I'm looking for something wider. I like primes but would also consider a zoom, either Pentax or third party. Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hello all,
So a couple of days ago I took my K01 to get the sensor cleaned. I prefer someone do it for me, so I don't mind paying for the service. The guy at the counter was very polite and professional. Said they don't a lot of Pentax gear. Fair enough. Next he tried to unscrew the 21mm I had on the camera. I had to show him how to take it off. That was the first dumb moment.
I came back about half an hour later to pick it up. He told me he was impressed with it. He had never seen the brick. But then he says to me "even though the image quality isn't very good" I just looked at him and actually felt sorry for him. I didn't want to argue with him so I just left shaking my head.
This just goes to show that ignorance isn't always bliss.

I have never owned the 43 but I do own the 55. Let me say it's a fantastic piece of glass. It's my portrait lens and it gets a lot of time on my K3. It's super sharp and the colours are gorgeous. Plus it's WR which goes nicely with your K30.
My only issue is the SDM focus. Mine takes a few minutes to "warm" up when I start shooting. Apparently there's a capacitor in the lens that needs to be activated every so often so you can't just leave it sitting on the shelf for too long. I turn mine on every few days when I'm not shooting.
As long as you understand how to use this lens, you will love it.

I've owned the Tamron 90mm, 072 model. It was a nice, sharp lens. I sometimes regret selling it. I imagine the 272 model is just as good, if not better. I picked up the DFA 100mm WR afterwards. It's an awesome lens. If the FA is similar optically you'll love it too. Someone mentioned the focus limiter. I miss that feature from the Tamron. The DFA doesn't have one. It's handy to have.
I haven't used the siggy but heard good things about it. I don't think you would go wrong with any of the lenses.

Hello all,
I've been offered a used K5iis for a decent price. Thing is it has a shutter count of about 31k. Does this diminish the selling price compared to one with 10k shutter count?
I know the camera is rated for 100,000 clicks.
What would you pay for one with so many clicks on it?

Hello all,
I've noticed that sometimes this symbol appears on the hand icon for shake reduction. It disappears as well. Does anyone know what it means? Please refer to the pic below.

Hello all,
I've noticed recently that my brick gets hot on the right side of the camera. Near where the SD card is. At first I thought the card was defective so I changed it. It started doing it with the second card as well. I thought maybe it's my hot hands?
It does it with AF lenses and manual lenses as well.
Has anyone experienced this? Is it normal?
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks

Took this on my black brick a while back.
I was sitting at a park bench when this critter arrived. It went straight for the honey that was spilled on the table.
I didn't have time to change to my macro lens, but I think it turned out ok with the pancake.

Hello all,
I was at the park today when I attempted to take a pic with my MX1. I was shooting in aperture priority mode. I zoomed in, focused, then pressed the shutter. It instantly went black and just froze up. No instant review of the photo, nothing on the screen. The lens didn't move either. It stayed like this for a couple of minutes, nothing. I took the battery out and put it back in after a minute or so. After about 10 seconds it powered up and restarted. The screen came on, the lens retracted and reset to the starting position. Also, the picture I was trying to take was all white. It worked fine after that. Freaked me out!!
Any ideas what could have caused this? Anyone else experience this or other issues? I really like this little camera and it would suck it if it craps out.

Hello,
I have a few primes: DA 15, DA 21, XS 40, DA70, DA50
Does the 55 fit anywhere in this lineup?
It's more of a studio lens IMHO. The only feature for me would be the WR.
Besides LBA, is it worth getting ?
Thanks

Hello all,
I already own a good copy of the xs 40mm that I got with my K-01.
Other than build quality and quick shift, is the limited superior in any way? Aren't they optically similiar?
I found a good deal on one but would it be a waste of money?
Thoughts?

I have both the DA and F, along with the FA f1.4 and the A macro f2.8. They all have their place. The DA is my light walkaround that is always in my bag. The F is for more serious photos, has better colour rendering and is sharper. The FA is for portraits. Good creamy bokeh. And the A is for close ups and macros. I love all of them.
