Towards the end of the evening I managed to try out the K1 with DFA24-70 F2.8 at the Sydney launch.
It is a very nice piece of kit.
Did not have to much time with it as I did not want to hog the camera so did not get to play with all the new features, buttons, dials or menu options in detail but general feel and layout makes you feel right at home for Pentax users.
In the below DropBox link is two images taken on the evening. Images are nothing special but if anyone wants to have a look and play with them go ahead.
Jpeg and raw files are there for your use.
Raw-->Jpeg processing in ACR is limited to. Temperature = 5500, tint = 15, camera profile = embedded. No further pp done. Raw files attached if anyone wants to have a play with the files. Will take the files down in a week or so. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/tvv1wffwdu9z22t/AAC5EVhH_olrP2_otXZh1B-Ea?dl=0
I enjoyed the evening. Great location and weather, free drinks and food, free bag of goodies, got to have a brief use of the K1 and the big boss himself even came along! I appreciate CR Kennedy and DigiDirect hosting such events. A lot nicer than some launches I have been to. Was interesting to see a fair few camera brands being used by those in attendance.

1i.) Blanco Negro located at Alexandria. You can also hire the darkroom and do your own developing. Or they will do it all for you. Just make sure to call before you head over to make sure he is there :)
1ii.) Sydney Super 8 at Newtown. They can process/scan etc all your film for you.
2.) Blanco Negro again sells Foma branded chemistry for such purposes. Have not seen anyone else selling but then I have not looked to hard.
3i.) Basically any dedicated camera store in Sydney will sell Pentax, how much stock they have on the show room floor will vary though.
3ii.) For digital cameras I have no idea on in store servicing. For film era cameras then Sydney Super maybe able to help.
Note.
I have never used the above for their services (developing/processing/scanning) but I do buy supplies off them as I do my own black and white processing.
There could very well be other vendors around but anything film related seems pretty hard to track down in Sydney so I would be interested to see if anyone else has something to add to this list. There has been items like patterson tanks which I just end up ordering from B&H and get it shipped over.
When you get here have a chat with the guys from Blanco Negro and Sydney Super they are friendly and I am sure they will help you out with sourcing items.
Most camera stores even though they sell nothing but digital these days will have a small stock of film and misc papers around but I find they can be a bit pricey. They will generally be stocking Ilford and or Kodak. I have been buying Foma paper and Foma 35mm black and white film off Blanco Negro as they are the cheapest that I have come across in Sydney. Sydney Super also has a decent stocking of films and a mix of different stocks too.
Hope that helps.
Cheers.

I have done this on the Z too.
It was a little whiles ago now but I had just finished the shoot, pulled out card 1 put it into the card reader and nearly had a heart attack at there being no images on it, which I found odd at the time as I had been previewing images on the back of the camera the whole shoot.
Tried again, nothing...went back to the camera and checked it "oh the images are on card 2" /end mild panic attack :)

Hello Ed
Not sure if anyone has contacted you yet but how much room do you need?
I can free up 1gig in my DropBox and make a share folder for you to put them into if that is enough.
Send me a private message if so.

Regarding the Profoto triggers, are you sure about that?
Please correct me if I am wrong but the Profoto triggers come in the following variations: - Profoto Air Remote TTL-Canon <-- only works with Canon and has TTL capabilites
- Profoto Air Remote TTL-Nikon <-- only works with Nikon and has TTL capabilites
- Profoto Air Remote <-- works with any camera brand, no TTL, no high sync etc, has full manual controls and can be changed from the trigger itself.
- Profoto Air Sync <-- works with any camera brand, no TTL, no high sync etc, basic trigger (costs less than the "air remote"), manual control of the flash has to be done at the flash itself.
I do not own Profoto but I was at a demo night a little whiles ago and was using the Olympus EM5mkii and my own Pentax K3 with the Profoto Air Sync to trigger the Profoto B1's.

Hmm I should of given you some websites so here we go.
Yodobashi store pentax camera link: ????.com - ??????? | ???????????????????????
Map camera link: https://www.mapcamera.com/digital_camera
As I mentioned previously if you have the chance get a long to Yodobashi store.
Of all the stores I would recommend you visit to store located at Akihabara in Tokyo. The Shinjuku branch is also good but nowhere near as big and it is spread across several different buildings.
This is a massive flag ship store and the amount of electronic gear they have on display for you to look at is rather stagering really, I like to just go there and do nothing but browse.
I am not sure if you have been to Japan or Tokyo specificly before but the Akihabara store is very close to the Japan Rail Akihabara train station, and the line that it is on is also one of the major ones so it is easy tog get to and find.
As for the Map camera store the second hand store I went to is in the Shinjuku area of Tokyo (major area with practically everything here). Within walking distance of the Japan Rail Shinjuku station but can be rather hard to find as it is in a maze of streets full of stores and food places. Also the only indication it was there was that there was a sign on the street saying "map camera" you then had to go into a small entrance area and catch a lift up to the appropriate level. Also the two different stores are within a block or two of each other.

This was two years ago now but I have been to the MAP second hand camera store in Shinjuku which is split across two small but packed stores.
Only one of the levels at one of the stores stocks pentax. Basically every level is dedicated to a different brand.
They had a great selection of second hand gear and everything is categorized into tiers according to their condition and they do specifiy what the lense comes with, ie whether it still has the case/packaging/paperwork.
Everything is displayed behind glass display cabinets but you only have to ask the staff and they will take the item out for you to have a look see.
I picked up an as new lense (DA limited 15mm) there for a good $200 less than new.
You are also able to test out the lenses and inspect them before buying them so gives a bit of piece of mind.
I would also suggest you have a good idea of how much the lenses cost in your own area before you buy from Japan.
Speaking from an Australian point of view it can often be cheaper to buy local than in Japan (for new lenses anyway).
As a side note if you can get along to the Yodobashi camera store, it is all new gear on sale but the shear amount of equipment they have on stock for you to browse is awesome.

My 2 cents worth.
I own both the K30 and the K3 and I will echo a lot of the comments here, get new glass.
There is nothing wrong with the K30 nor can I say that there is anything I can do with the K3 that I cannot do with the K30.
Having used the K30 for two odd years now and the K3 for a year or so I would rate the two bodies as follows.
K3 pros:
Better build quality, the fit and feel is awesome, the dials and buttons all feel so nice to use. It is so much nice to use because of this.
Bigger files allow for more cropping if required.
Dual card slots.
No AA filter.
Shutter is oh so much quieter
X mode, it is very handy to lock the shutter at 1/180 while using flash.
K30 pros:
It is lighter! Not normally an issue but it makes a difference when you happen to be hiking all day with the 200mm attached.
The files are smaller and dont fill up my hard drives so quickly.
The grip is deeper and more comfortable to hold.
When it comes down to it I really would be hard pressed to tell the different between a photo I had taken with both the bodies because I use the same glass between them. Having said that if I compared a file of the same subject matter back to back then for sure the K3 gives more and finer detail but does that really matter? Viewed in isolation the K30 produces excellent images, it is just that the K3 is better.
Also just for your information I have the following lenses that I use:
DA15mm f4 limited
DA*55mm f1.4
FA77mm f1.8 limited
DA*200mm f2.8

Hello Primus
Please see the screen shot from Lightroom in the below DropBox link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/dj8ttye4wx159t4/LR_embedded.jpg?dl=0
From what you are saying when you hit that drop down menu there is no "embedded" option to select?
Very odd this has always been there for me as long as i shoot my raw files in .DNG format I just go hit the dropdown for and I can choose, adobe standard, embedded and my own custom profiles.
Same for Photoshop which is what I normally use. ACR has always worked fine for me.
Sorry not the most helpful of posts but just letting you know it shoud be working.

Hello Zobeleye
Unfortunately it seems the colourchecker just does not like the 645Z at all.
There has been another thread on this previously as well, not sure if there was any actual solution.
I have never been able to get the colourchecker program to autodetect the patches when I drag in a dng file.
At best I had to manually drag the crop marks over the image to get a profile made. But as of late I cannot even get it to do that as the program just crashes everytime.
It should be noted that it works perfectly with my other cameras.
I do not have another shoot lined up that requires the Z until the end of next month, before then I was going to try out the DataColor SpyderCheckr instead and see if I have any success with that.
Cheers

I am pretty much mirroring what has already been said but here is my opinion from having owned both the DA*55 and the FA77.
Given the choice between the two I will always go for the FA77 regardless of what I am shooting. There is just something that is so very pleasing with the images it produces. I also prefer the compression that the 77 gives over the 55 for portraits.
The only time I do not use the 77 is when I do not have the room to work with it and if I am out and about hiking in which case I take the 55 for its weather sealing.
Also as has been pointed out if you already have the FA50, getting a DA*55 is not much of a noticeable difference, whereas swapping from the 50 to the 77 you will notice.
And seeing as you have it give the 100mm lens a go. Does not hurt to try and if you like the results you just saved yourself some money.
Lastly why dont you use the 70-200 for portraits? Or you already do and want something different or faster?
Cheers

I see you already figured it out with the help of others but keep in mind that as pointed out X mode locks you at 1/180 shutter speed. You indicated you prefer to shoot at 1/125 for flash so X mode is not possible for that. I do generally shoot in X mode myself for flash but if I do choose M mode for whatever reason and the flash does not fire I always just check the shutter speed to make sure I did not accidently knock it over the sync speed. As long as you keep it in mind it is not an issue and you have it all fixed for the next shot :)

Not sure why that is happening to you.
A vast majroity of my shooting with the Z is using flash and this does not happen to me.
Out of curiosity I just went and tested a few shots in manual mode (normally but not always for flash i keep it in X mode).
1/30 shutter
2.8F
100iso
1 pocket wizard on the Z.
1 pocket wizard on a yongnuo flash
A few shots with the view finder and a few shots with liveview.
The shutter speed selected does not change after each shot.
So not much help to you sorry beyond whatever is happening to you should not be happening.

I just updated my Z with no problems.
As mentioned do you have the card in slot one.
Is the file in the root directory of the card.
Is the file named "Fwdc224b.bin"
I had the menu button pressed in and I held it in while I turned it on as opposed to pressing it while turning it on, no idea if that makes a difference. And with all of the above done it went straight to a screen asking if I wanted to update from 1.00 --> 1.10.

Thank you for the event report.
When you refered to the low flash sync "problem" do you mean the 1/125sec max sync speed or something else?
And seeing as you have the two LS lenses did you get a chance to try them out on the Z? If so I am most interested to know how that went and if everything works as intended.
What was the crowd like that turned up to the event? When I went to the one in Sydney it was mostly working photographers from all different genres who had turned up to see if a medium format would be right for their business model.
Cheers
