I sent Profoto an email via their UK site asking about availability of a new trigger for the 645Z in the near future and got a reply today, see copy of the reply below, i think we need more Pentax/profoto users to get in touch with them.
John,
Your question to our website regarding a Profoto Trigger for Pentax cameras, has been forwarded to me to follow-up.
Currently we have full TTL and HSS capability with Canon and Nikon camera systems.
At some point in the not too distant future there will probably be Fuji, Sony, Panasonic and Olympus options as well.
With all of these units Profoto have reversed engineered the communication protocols, without any help from the camera manufacturers.
Other camera systems will at some point be added, when the demand is deemed to be great enough, so unfortunately some of the brands may have to wait some time.
All of the above is obviously subject to change as market forces dictate, but at the present I am not aware of any plans to bring out a Pentax trigger this year.
Sorry if the above is not want you want to hear, but that is the way it is at the moment.

I use the 645Z with Profoto B1s by simply setting the B1s to slave and firing a Pentax 540FGZ11 set to HS into the B1, this lets you use any shutter speed on the camera, you need line of sight of course and you don't get TTL. Its not ideal but it works for a lot of situations, hopefully Profoto or someone else will soon have a trigger/transmitter that will give the same setup as Canon/Nikon also iv noticed the new Phaseone cameras have the triggers built into the camera.

Just thought i would upload an image as I'm really enjoying the fantastic images put up on this site. Iv been using the 645Z for work and pleasure since July and loving it, the image quality is such a huge jump from my Canon 1 series cameras that every time i use the 645Z and edit the images it just makes me smile. This image is from Dunseverick Co Antrim on the north Irish coast using the 28-45 with a lee nd filter and grey grad.

Hi my name is john, I'm a photographer working and living in Ireland, iv just been checking out your forums and info, simply because of the Pentax 645Z announcement, hoping to return to medium format when the new camera is available. Any info on both AF & manual lenses would be appreciated…many thanks..jt
