I'd go for the rechargable CR V3's. That's what I had for my DS. They'll allow your focusing motor to move a bit faster giving you slightly faster autofocus. I read from a Pentax interview that the K10D AF motor is actually the same as the K100D, with the exception of having a more powerful power source.

Anyways, if you do go with rechargable CRV3, get ones with voltage safety features. I belive the Delkin's are well respected in terms of safety for your camera body.

Foreign travel - which setup to take?

I've heard bad things about the first generation Sigma 18-50 f/2.8. But I've heard good things about the new second gen Sigma 18-50f/2.8 MACRO - note the word "MACRO" which only the new one has. It's much sharper and an excellent performer from the review and pics I've seen. However all from non-Pentax bodies. I haven't heard much about it on a Pentax dslr. If you can wait, I'd definately go for the new Pentax 16-50mm f/2.8 coming out.

Anyone know what the 3 screws do exactly? The posts in the DP Review forum only speculate on them.

I briefly tested my 50/1.4 but didn't see noticable ff, but I get it consistantly with my Sigma 30/1.4 and didn't with my DS. Seeing all these ff problems with the 50/1.4 I'll retest it again to be sure.

I agree with Steven above regarding having people (especially loved ones) in pictures. That's why I try to include people (even people I don't know) into my photographs - adds that human element.

Anyways, back to the topic. I guess the travel kit really depends on your photographic style. If you're traveling with family, or want to have quick shots, zooms are the way to go; or if you have time, like to plan out your shots more or don't mind quickly changing lenses then primes are well suited. But I find a good medium is a zoom/prime combo kit:
1. 18-55mm/16-45mm
2. 55-200mm
3. 30mm/1.4 or 50mm/1.4
4. 85/2 or 135mm/2.5
That way you have the zooms for shots where you want to change quick focal lengths and time is an issue, while you still have the primes for when you want them (portraits, low light, etc).
