Something I do to check if I have focusing problems is with a ruler.
I put the ruler against the wall and a surface on a 45 degree angle and focus for center at wide open to look for front focus or back focus.

I tried gluing the silicone cone with super glue. the button is on there but it looks pretty flimsy.
Only applied the glue to the silicone contact- not sure if theres a better way of approaching this DIY fix.

Well
Mine was broken for months -
i finally found a website that sold invidivual parts...
finally!
USCamera.com is selling them for only 7$ and change for the button and the rubber cone.
I sent it to precision cam for repairs but it was taking them way too long (waited for a month in vain..) so i had them ship my k5 back.
Ill try to fix it myself with super glue, although I'd like some help from those who have already done the DIY fix.
thanks
peter

I shipped off my K5 today.
Repair is probably going to take a while because from what I read on the forum back in the CRIS days they had to order the lens release button- I'm assuming it'll be the same deal with Precision.

Im assuming that even if the cost of the actual repair comes out to be less that you end up paying the full 200.
Can anyone verify the validity of the assumption?

I dont understand how the "flat quote" from Precision works- so we just send in the camera and pay 200 without there being any given conditions?
FYI - I need to get my camera sensor cleaned and get my lens release button replaced.

A family photo of a family in Merida, Mexico.
Keep an open eye for little things. Not just on the child, but also on the kitten.
Merida might not be the finest city, but to a suburban dweller like I, was an exotic and colorful place.
As exotic as the place may be, the families there, however, seemed to be no different from anywhere else that I have been.
As a high school student I do not often get opportunities to travel.
This photo was taken last year, during my first trip with my K-5 and the 35 Limited.
There really isn't too much to talk about the post-processing, for I try to keep the photos as accurate as I possibly can.
Nevertheless to name a few touch ups performed, I did slightly touch up on the mid tones, the exposure, and the color saturation to match skin tones.
