[FREE! + Shipping] Tamron 28-200mm (f3.8-f5.6) & Pentax 28-70 (f4) Asking Price
0.00 USD Item Location
Wisconsin (United States) Item Description
I have two free zooms available for $15 (the cost of shipping); they are the Tamron 28-200 (f3.8-f5.6) and the Pentax FA 28-70 (f4). They are both in pretty solid condition upon inspection - I have not used them. They came with cameras that I bought recently, and I think they'd make a good early kit for someone. This is specifically for newer folks who need some of their first glass. If the shipping is less than $15, I will refund it. PM me! :) Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

Thankya Mike! I do travel some, and find the PZ1P is a great travel camera with a small prime or two (Usually a 20-55mm FL for me). Funny enough these shots span ~4years ... I waited a decade to develop an old set of 20 rolls spanning 2013-2023. Now THAT is a long wait to see whatcha got! I love film to be honest, and am going to shoot it exclusively for a bit, and rest my K-1.

Thanks Mike! I've got more film loaded in the Pz-1p as we speak; Kodak Portra 400 this time, as opposed to the cheap stuff (Kodak Ultramax 400). The DA40 is getting the first go on this new roll.

It is a great portrait lens on APS-C for sure! I like that the 55mm on FF has the ~FOV of a 35mm lens on APS-C. It makes it a very attractive street lens, and a FOV I really enjoy. I am going out with just the FA31 and DA*55 shortly for a street adventure with the K-1.

Hmm, it seems I struck a nerve? It seems the general vibe here is "That's been done, not excited". Little photography, bad attitudes, and people worried about corner sharpness. I remember why I left 15 years ago.
*And right on time - a 3 paragraph perfect example of the vibe here, posted by a member who has spent 1000s of hours here in the last decade. Like I said, good luck friends - PM me if you need me :p

Only anecdotal evidence here of course - but I've used my copy without failure for nearly 15 years. On the K-5 and K-1 as well. "Smaller" prime designs are the perfect candidates for SDM I think, as they have smaller and lighter elements to move. Granted the entire package gets larger with a lens motor - the difference between the FA 50/1.4 and the DA* 55mm size seems like a fair comparison. I wouldn't hesitate to buy the lens new again - and I feel I've gotten my $ worth. ---------- Post added 02-04-24 at 10:43 AM ----------
Glad to see another fan of the lens; nice examples too.

I'm really loving it ... super small for a wide angle, easy to MF, really good IQ, etc. Honestly, I haven't had so much fun with a MF lens in a long time - and the results didn't disappoint me. I recently got the M28/2.8 as well, as I want all the small M-series prime lenses that Pentax made.

Is anyone still doing this service? I've got a couple of lenses I'd like silvered. I found silvervintagephoto on eBay, but I can't get a response from him.

You even mention using an old camera for fear of hitting the mirror. I'm not interested in your project, gluing lenses, or using brick-inducing adapters. You don't even own a K-1 ... I don't have the bandwidth to do the rest of your work for you, and why would I in MY thread about MY experience shooting a genuine Pentax lens? Photography, and all that - give it a shot.:lol::lol:

Here is the designated place to have the old "is that REALLY a pancake?!?!" go-round. Best of luck. The Pentacon lens you refer to as a pancake is 32mm long ... the M28/2.8 is 31mm ... Pancake lens club - PentaxForums.com
I think it is a distraction and waste of time (photography is my hobby).    YMMV!!!!!!! Corner sharpness too :)
As several posters point out in your linked post ... M42/PK adapters are not something anyone should be putting on a camera they value, and glue shouldn't be near a lens, mount, or camera. Pentax service makes a killing prying those off of cameras and bricking the warranty. I honestly would put a disclaimer on your link when you write ...
["Affix "non-infinity-focus" M42/PK flange to the metal lugs exposed in the previous step ... I used super-glue but you could drill and screw if you've got the facility."]
In that 6+ year old post, you are putting the lens on a $50 film body ... today it could brick a $1500 K-1 II. PM me if you need more details.
