I attended an exhibition years ago. I think it was the Mitsubishi collection. Even my non-photographer wife was wowed. They had a number of his early photographs. It was interesting to see how much he developed over time.

k1000 light meter is effected by light entering the viewfinder

I really think it is a non issue with a K1000. Exposure is set manually with your eye to the cup. I enjoyed a K1000 for years and never felt this was causing me a concern. Are you shooting positives or negatives?

The sensor in the K-1 ii has a little better low light performance, I think, so for the same noise level, you might be able to stop down a little more. In my limited macro work I have wanted more DOF.

February, 2020 Third Place: Great Sand Dunes at Morning

Great Sand Dunes National Park.

My research indicated that, because these dunes lie on the western base of the strip of mountains, there is no morning shot to be had. I had arrived late to the lodge so I slept in a bit. When I awoke, the sun was up and still finding it's way to these dunes. All my gear was packed and ready for a trip up the mountain to photograph a waterfall. I frantically unpacked, set up my tripod and shot until the light was crap.I never made it to the waterfall.

Don't believe everything you read. Allow for the unexpected.

Thanks for that. I’ll consider my options. As a last ditch effort, I think I’ll reload the firmware just in case it is a software glitch.

Was really hoping I had. I had the replacement done while I was in the US in July. I’m stuck with it until next summer when I return to the US. Not sure how that will fly from a warranty standpoint and, while I can still take pictures, it does detract considerably from the user experience. Thank goodness for the histogram.

Upgraded K-1 Mark II Now has Banding on LCD

I recently got my K-1 Mark II back from the upgrade service. The photos seem fine but the LCD now is terrible. Not sure how to describe it: maybe banding or solarization. Bokeh areas or areas with fairly constant tone show banding like the I am looking at a 4 bit image. I'm attaching some examples including a comparison between the LCD and the final image. The issue appears to be ISO independent. It affects image playback and liveview. When viewing live images from Image Sync on my phone, I do not see the problem. It seems to only affect what is sent to the LCD.

Even in the LCD display settings, I see some banding on some of the color swatches. My My Outdoor View setting is "Off."

Hopefully, I've changed some setting that is causing this. Any suggestions or information on similar experiences is very welcome.

Thanks.

K-1ii Upgrade and AF Fine Adjustment

Thanks, BigMacCam. That's my situation. I have a spreadsheet with the calibrations for all my lens/body calibrations. I'll eventually get them all redone, but I'm just curious if anyone has gone down this road and checked to see if they changed. I'm heading out this weekend and won't have much time to recalibrate before I go.

I've had them on my *ist D, K-5 and K-1. I rarely feel the need on the K-1.
