I feel like if Pentax had a bigger North American presence (including their OWN product support center for repairs), that they'd do much better here. Every Japanese person I've ever met is astounded to see an American shooting Pentax. It's all about the marketing.

I agree that there is too much dead space at the top of the image. In general, I try to line the eyes up with the upper-third line in portrait orientation. As for skin edits: I recommend steering clear from anything that removes texture from the skin. To avoid this, I'd check out Frequency Separation. Nice shot -- keep working, and don't be afraid to play with lighting (reflectors, window light, etc.)

Thanks for your feedback! I was a bit lost for a title, never been good with that. Thanks very much for nominating as well.

I set out one afternoon to shoot some sunset shots from the top of the Bluff on which I live. After becoming very frustrated about my inability to get the shot I wanted, I pulled out my macro lens and started shooting some string lights near me. The glass of the light bulb along with the gorgeous sunset backdrop made for one of my favorite photos I've ever captured.
Post-processing includes some selective tweaking of saturation, sharpening, etc. all done in Lightroom. |
