I'd not even heard of them - there seems to be some quite heavy promotion going on but, as you say, precious little in the way of independent reviews - I'll keep my eyes open.

My 15-30 DFA is so versatile I would hate to be without it. Polarizing filters on a lens wider than 24 are difficult to control because of uneven sky polarization (although they still are great for color saturation). I do occasionally miss having the split neutral density filter but if you shoot raw you can easily get back shadows and highlights in post. In short....the 15-30 rarely leaves my K-1. I use it as a wide angle workhorse and use my K-3 as a second body for everything else.

I agree the 15-30 is large and heavy, but it delivers great looking pictures. I bit the bullet and did the Fotodiox Wonderpana 66 to get screw in filters. They make a multi-coated CPL and a variety of screw on ND filters for this system. Yes, it is expensive, but the pain goes away when you use it - very nicely made and works well. Also has the square brackets for 6.6" filters which lets you use anyone's filters of that dimension and play around with graduated NDs and being able to adjust the horizon vertically. So, not exactly the answer perhaps you're looking for, but wouldn't rule out the 15-30 over the threaded filter angle. Of note, I found I can leave the base ring on the lens, remove the front half of the adapter with filter attached as it's own assembly for storage/carrying, and use the original Pentax lens cap - this can also be useful if you're going from inside/outside and don't want to detach the lens from the camera every time you stop using the filter. So I leave the ring on the lens, and I pretty much leave the MC CPL on the rest of the adapter - picked up a 4" cap for a couple bucks to be a rear "lens" cover for the assembly when removed from the lens - note I keep mentioning the multi coated CPL to distinguish it from the non-multi-coated CPL they offer, which sounds like it has some flare issues from reviews. The multi-coated version gets much better reviews. Anyway, I can post some pictures if interested. Meanwhile, more coffee is needed.

Ouch! I feel your pain. Perhaps some penetrating oil will free it up. I got a bug up my butt earlier this year to pickup a NOS 3025 3D head. I used to have the larger 3028 3D head but someone broke into the trunk of my car and got my tripod and head. I never replaced the head as it was too large and found I preferred a 3 way head better. I hadn't removed the head on my Bogen for over 30 years but it came off with no problems. To be fair my tripod hasn't seen much outdoor use and I mainly use it for indoor macro work. The advantage of the 3D head is you can keep your camera the right side up when the center column is reversed.
The 3025 was replaced with the 056 but there is little difference between them. 3D Junior Pan/Tilt Tripod Head with Individual Axis Control
The safety weight payload on the 460MG is 6.61 lbs and weight 15.87 oz. The 055XB has been replaced with the 055 which shows a safety payload weight of 19.84 lbs.
You will probably overload the head before the tripod.

Too soon to be "gutted" imo. Maybe they'll have some news on the new lenses and you'll have some info to sustain you until they actually come out.
It seems the older roadmaps compared to this one are slightly different - I heard someone say that the wide prime is going to have a * designation whereas before it didn't. If they are working through options, it means they are working on it and if it does turn out to be weather sealed, I'll be very happy about that.
But in the meantime, I'm just glad they are coming out with announcements that help fill out their line.

Awesome. Now where is the matching 35mm F/1.4 and the 85mm F/1.4? I want a 24mm F/1.4 first.

77mm filter? That means a big lens to be a 20mm f4... The "K" one back in the day had a 58mm and the M had a 49mm filter.
I would hope for something a lot smaller than implied by a 77mm filter... something more like the earlier ones, though obviously with more modern optics and WR.
Though being Pentax, it would probably be a 20mm f3.8 Limited or something... and that's OK...

I doubt Pentax can do all 5 next year, but we'll probably see a few of them. Its weird that no prototypes were in display at photokina.

I had the D300. I was not impressed with it. I now use a Nikon D7100, much better camera.
For motor sports get a Nikon D7100 or D7200.
For landscapes, the K1 is supreme. Much cheaper and better than D810.
Advice from a guy who has both Nikon and Pentax systems.

Alongside this question it would be interesting to know how many folk think that with the K-1's abilities and ever more powerful post processing, whether filters are fast becoming redundant.
Apologies if this seems like a hijack of the OP's post, but I felt adding an alternative approach might be informative. Feel free to ignore me ...

If you look at Lenstip, Photozone, DXO Mark etc., often it takes many months - even a year or more - before specific lens reviews appear. I suspect Pentax kit isn't near the top of their priority lists, but I'd guess we'll see the reviews in good time. It's only been a year or thereabouts since the lens came out. Furthermore, given the focal length range, it's primarily of relevance to full frame shooters, and the K-1 is still only a few months old... I'm sure the reviews will start to appear gradually :)

There still aren't a lot of independent reviews no matter how you type it in.
Certainly the Pentaxforums have reviews, that is what happens here. But it really hasn't hit the big time yet.
It just seems to me that since Ricoh took over Pentax it has seemed that independent reviews are not as prevalent as they used to be.
