645Z - Strange behaviour in Photoshop

Using Profoto color space in 8bits doesnt make much sense. You will see a lot of banding all the time.
Surface blur in 16bit is very slow (depending on your settings), but you can speed it up using Medium filter with very similar results if you are in a hurry.
Headshot from 645Z, AdobeRGB 16b, surface blur 32/32 = 3-4 minutes on 6core MacPro (2014). Same Median +-20 sec and the only unusable part are the lips, which you should mask out anyway.

Now the 'Z' has been out a while, how does the 'D' compare?

Just info to you if you are considering buying used D, that D has shutter rated to 50000. That is not much (for me).
But the sound from it is awesome, more punchy, more metallic (also less discreete) :-)
Z has many features you will love and it is worth every penny.

Excuse my ignorance, but how is this different (better) than Pentax 120mm f/4 Macro? What is fine-art about it (I presume lack of sharpness)? Just curious...

Thanks. I will buy 28-45. On 80-160 I am not so sure, I would like to have f/2.8 or even more, so I will stick to my 55 and 90, althought not much happy with 55. I am very interested in new lenses, hope they come soon :-)

Sorry, I cannot help you.
I would be very interested if someone tell me how to colorbalance photos quicker specially using Capture One. Process in LR was paintful and Capture One is impossible. I own ColorCheckr Passport and dust is sitting on it until Capture One integrated it right way :-(

I shot comparsion closeup portrait two weeks ago with 645Z & 90M at f/2.8 ISO 100 and D810 & 85G at f/2.2 ISO 140 (try to match DOF) using some cheap studio lights. After balancing colors (which from Nikon (portrait mode) were awfull), 645Z was far better at gradients, far better dynamic range (I measured it in PS for to be sure), just beautifull... Nikon was just flat & boring. Altho it was very expensive and I am not satisfied with a lot of things on Z, I would not go back to D800E/D810 even if it someone give it to me for free.
I shoot a lot of portraits outside against the sun and I would not believe what I saw first time from 645Z. I love this camera, it is almost dream come true.

Thanks for clarifing that, I was really just curious in which way could this SW be better.
I bought external DVD drive yesterday as a gift for my father, so I will unwrap it later today and try that DVD on Mac.
I dont understand why it is not possible to download that from Pentax.

I was just curious why do you want that Whiskey and telling you, that there is not that kind of Whiskey on the market and that you should try Milk instead. If you insist on using S-SW150, I would suggest using it in Virtualbox or something like that.
We all just dont understand why do you want that if you have so many better options, thats all.

I have 645Z and the latest Mac Pro (without DVD drive), I dont use S-SW150 and I dont even know what is it good for. Lightroom 5 opens my DNG files, Capture One Pro opens them too, Photoshop CC (ACR) without any problems...

So what does this S-SW150 actually do? What it is good for? As the DVD drive - I dont need it for anything.

That is all what was on that CD. No Mac version there, just Win 32/64b.
I am not sure for what do you need this and for what this SW really is. Adobe Camera Raw, Lightroom and Capture One open DNG files from 645Z without any problems.

Z can also take 50% more photos :-) (100000)
And you get many features (like speed) extra :-) CMOS chip is good, but I have no direct comparsion with CCD from D.
Maybe Adam or someone will clarify this.

I would add that I am very unhappy with AF button position and size. It is not in the right place. But I hope I will get used to this. I really dont like focusing with shutterbutton and I always switch this off.
When I press AF button in a dimm room, nothing happens for 1-2s, then lens go all way up and down and 2-3s later maybe catch something. It is not everytime, but sometimes really catches me and I miss the shot.
Even if lens is in the position (I prefocus manually) than you need to wait for the confirmation (1-2s lag). I would not called this portrait camera (as Pentax did in they marketing ****). But I wanted to slow down, not to shoot too many shots, so I got what I wished for :-) I was not able to get 1 (one) sharp shot of my dog even sitting on a couch.
I am comming from D800E + 85/1.4 and IQ (sharpness, colors, depth) from Z is superb and it is worth the pain with AF. I hope AF is not bad due to slow chip so it could be improved later, but I am afraid this is not that case.

Z is my first Pentax and autofocus has a huge lag at leasto on my 90mm D-FA.
Review is instant, I would say <1s. Focusing is bothering me more.
I am not able to produce pinsharp photos at ISO 100 handheld at the late afternoon.
My RAW files are 65MB, so 141 photos on 16 GB SD card.
Flucard is able to transfer XS jpeg in 8s.

Just kidding. I will post some portraits after Model Release is signed.

I was trying used 55mm D-FA yesterday at f/2.8, it nice but colors are different than 90mm Macro. Any thoughts?

I take a few shots yesterday (nothing presentable) and I am very happy with color rendering with comparsion to my ex-D800E. I shoot my GF agains sun and she has beautyfull skin and no CA at all. On my ex-Nikon it would be all green with CA all over the place (85mm/1.4 vs Pentax 90mm Macro). The files from this are huge - in 100% I will get on screen eye-to-lips, 60MB RAW and quickly growing in Photoshop and RAM. IQ is superb.
Focusing is sometimes laggy, need some time to catch up and position of AF button is not in the right place. It is very hard to get sharp photo at f/2.8 iso100 handheld at sundown.
All images are flipped verticaly and I dont know why, I need to go thru menu.
