I have been around cameras for a few years I started in 1954)
I inherited my Pentax film SLR from a brother in law back in 1998.
Prior to that my main cameras were a pair of Yashika DL Electras
My main DSLR is a Nikon D40X, with a Series of 4 Non DSL cameras as back up. I still occasionally shoot film.
When shooting film I load three cameras, One B/W, One Print, and One Slide (the Pentax).
When shooting digital I have three digitals on hand, plus the three film cameras and three different flash units mounted.
I also work location and in studio. ---------- Post added 05-16-14 at 03:34 PM ---------- I have never had any trouble with any of my camera and flash combinations. Now a days the better and well know makes of flash units use a low voltage trigger line which activates (fires) the high voltage flash. Therefore your camera is always isolated from high voltages.
In older flashes the full voltage discharge of the flash went through the camera and eventually burnt out the contacts inside the camera, even if it was a factory matched set. This was the configuration for the old flashbulb cameras.
