Nice to meet you Eddie ;)

Flickeroo, if you could pass on the log in details of the flickr account (as numerous people seem to forget), to the next lens recipient that would be great... when you get them.

Cheers!

I just thought I'd pop back here and see how things are going...

It seems they are going well :)

Thanks to all those who've been involved with this thread from the early days and kept most of the original idea's on track... Including explaining how the Flickr posting works by passing on the login to the same person one sends the lens too

Thanks rparmar.

Cheers

Kevin.

I just thought I'd pop in and say hi guys..

Gokenin, thanks for your continued stewardship of this project... Cheers!

Have you REALLY not had the lens yet? :( I don't want to mess up any current list, but I hope you get it at some point.

Having said this, it's fantastic to see the lens in Europe.

Robin, thanks for creating the web page, I have edited the first post to include a link to it.

Hi Guys.

I'm glad the original lens has resurfaced :).

I'm quite happy for it to either continue on it's journey, or be returned. As long as one lens is doing the rounds I'm most happy.

One shouldn't underestimate this lens it's very good, not to mention well made and compact.

I agree one week is not enough, 2 weeks should be plenty. If an emergency crops up, please say so.

Ok, a lot of these questions are getting re-hashed, and repeated over and over as it's hard to find the agreed terms deep inside all the previous forum posts in this thread.
I suggest a sticky with all the guidelines for nifty 50 possession and transferal all placed in one place for easy access.

Some of the content could be for example:

" The lens should be passed on with delicate care, including ALL original items it came with ie both caps. If parts are lost they should be replaced with the same quality items. If one cannot source the lost items within the 2 week period, one should send them on after the lens asap. "

I find it very hard to see how someone could agree to receive the lens, and then discredit the whole community by dissapearing off the planet, and not communicating. Quite inconsiderate.
If you have problems, it's ok, stuff happens, just let the next person, or SOMEONE know about it, and we'll do our best to help... right?

Pictures should be posted on the Flickr account, if possible (not essential), or at least on here. Details of the Flickr account login are to be passed on between those sending and receiving the lens at EVERY transferal.
(We could post the Flickr login detail in the sticky, but why make it that easy for the account to get corrupted?)

This is not an overly expensive item, it IS however a good lens, and should be treated with respect.

This is a great opportunity for people to have fun, show pictures of there own part of the planet, through their own eyes, and maybe get to know a few more like minded enthusiasts on this site.

Ok, peace everyone! ;)

Post a picture of the lens and caps on here please, with serial number (for the projects sake) ;)

It would be nice if everything is kept intact.

Yes people, let's have some respect for our fellow users and pass the lens on in a quick and timely manner...

Could the person who has it now please stand up?

Great work there Gokenin.
I feel perhaps I'd rather the lens was sent to London/Ireland next, then on to those in continental Europe as the lens has already done a fair amount of North America (and Australia).

Just my opinion.

I maintain, the holder of the lens chooses but takes note of the list in terms of when potential users first showed an interest as well.

Transit distance/time are obviously partial considerations.

;)

Hey Netuser, sorry it looks like you may be right.

After fearing the lens had been lost Gokenin unselfishly offered to submit another of the same lens to continue the journey. This was something he should be noted for I believe.

The lens has turned up now, and the current holder has also been given a copy of the latest list from which he can see where to send the lens to. Not having seen this actual list myself I just hope it has some new continents including Europe on it, and coming soon.

Happy New Year!

K.

Hi Dan,
If I'm not mistaken the 50mm has been to Europe already, but as it's on a continuos journey, I'd expect it to make it back there at some point.

I'm not sure if it's been to South America yet however.. :-P

I don't want to disturb the order of things by saying where it should go however, as some people on here have been doing a pretty good job of updating the list of people who have already showed interest in receiving the lens, and as I've always said, I'd rather the current holder of the lens at any given point in time make a sensible judgement on where it should go next.

At the moment we're trying to see what "Seamuis" has to say about it's current location.

Pictures of the lenses travels are being geotagged in Flickr, and whilst this may not be the best solution it's a good start.

Thanks Gokenin, and to all those that have taken part so far!
Sorry to those that are still waiting for a chance to join in.
Perhaps someone would be kind enough to add a genuine Pentax lens cap to it soon, as traveling naked is risky :o

Ok, perhaps I should retain the rights to the lens as someone has to own it, but it's on permanent loan to the Pentax user.. ;-)

I agree, Jsherman you've really made the lens shine, thanks for your efforts!
Love the Bokeh shots, and the lighting/exposure of the horse image.

Hey guys, I think this project itself is worth more than the lens so I've decided to give it to the Pentax forum... :)

I've been very impressed by the way everyone has kept the list together, with great spirit, and no real arguments. With no time limit on the project now everyone, and every location should get some time with the 50.

Cheers!

Kevin.

Wow, it's exciting to see all the new comments and activity on here again. I thank those involved so far, and look forward to more pictures..
Melbourne certainly looks nice :)

I think the idea of adding one's name under pictures posted to the flickr account is a good idea as it helps to make it more obvious this is a group effort.

The lens grows less in value to me (in regard to actually getting it back), and more to us as a group I'm feeling.

Cheers!

Oh one other thing, anyone who get's the lens, and already has a flickr account, why not add yourself as a friend to the account like I did once logged in. This way if you forget the login details, you can still check in from your own account every once in a while..
