Funny, I have the f2.8 70-200mm, and am looking at add that 150-450mm this summer. Sounds like a good match with my K3-III.

Sorry, yes. www.123ink.ca. They had a pointer site called "123inkcartridges.com" that pointed to that one.

Go take a look at 123inkcatridges.com for really good prices on ink, toner, etc. I've been using them for a decade. I've used their ink for Epson Artisan 1400 series, Brother's, etc. Easy to deal with, fast to ship, and very economical.

Sorry - they used to have a 2nd site called that. Their main site -is- "123ink.ca".

K1 SDHC Cards

Sigh...
Have my K1 on a months holiday. F\Dual Samsung 128 EVO+ micro SD cards in SD holders. K1 is set to mirror any images taken across both cards.

Just finished taking a great series of a desert sunset. Went back to show them. Turned the K1 on, the orange light came on (as usual), then blinked and came back on (unusual).

Now I have two completely clean (i.e. empty!!!!!) micro SD cards. Lost 4 weeks of images. DEEP sigh...

My fault for not backing up off the K1 to the laptop. Silly me.

Any thoughts as to -why- this happens? And, and thoughts on perhaps recovering any/all of the images?

Heading out to tomorrow first thing to buy -new- cards regardless.

One of the larger local dealers here in Victoria, BC Canada knew of the issue when I talked to him last weekend. He said "...all units of that serial # series had been shipped back...". I checked that the unit on display was outside the range listed in the beginning on this thread.

Currently, that post says:
Members Reporting the Issue

So far, in the various threads about this issue, between me and Jhmos, we've counted a total of 141 people who have reported having the problem at least once. This is a complete list. The names with stars are the ones that have also reported here in this thread (the ones without stars have reported in one of the other threads linked above). I will update the list as more people reply here.

So far, the issue seems to have been reported in serial numbers ranging anywhere from:
482XXXX to 493XXXX (black bodies)
and
2573XXX to 2578XXX (silver bodies)
The names with numbers indicate that the user has had more than one K3 body suffer with this problem.

It does not matter how long it inconvenienced someone. It did, probably causing a missed shot (or more).

I expect to have no downtime. I expect the unit to work like my other Pentax products have worked for the past few decades. Reliably.

So, until the fix is proved, either a serial number sequence without such errors, or by proof that 1.10 fixes the issue, I'll be holding my money & not buying a K3.

I've had my K20d for some 6 years now and narry a single shutter issue as described for the K3. Lots of.. well -many- time lapse star shots, evening shots & trying out new technique shots.

I'm looking at moving up to a K3 soon-ish, when a reliable fix for this issue gets reported. Yes, I've seen that the firmware fix seems to address this but not 100% ??

In the meanwhile, off I go with my trusted K20D for some summertime shots!

Just curious... anyone heard yet of a fix for the mirror-flap issue being available in Canada yet? I was thinking of picking up a K-3 at the end of the month for a trip I'm taking.

DRabbit.

Thank you for your time & effort, on behalf of all K-3 owners (& almost owners still waiting in the wings, like me ...).

I know this took a lot of your time to work with Ricoh/Pentax. I, for one, -really- appreciate your approach & efforts.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Well, based on this thread & others, I've kept my K-20D, and held off purchasing a K-3 a few weeks back. I have told the local retailers here (3 of them) why I've done so.

-All- of them report having units returned for warranty repair, exchange, or refund. All within the serial # sequence listed at top. All of them knew about this issue.

So, hopefully Ricoh/Pentax should be getting the message that this is impacting sales and definitely impacting the Pentax product reputation.

I still have my $1200.00 (+ taxes) sitting around, waiting...

I have my trusty K-20D. I'm not missing a shot at all.

If I -did- buy one in that serial # range, AND it exhibits the problem while shooting THEN I will miss one or more shots. And probably be past any Return Policy.

-MY- logic says, that it would be a mugs game to proceed with a purchase at this time.

Of course, everything changes if there is a firmware update/patch that resolves the issue. :)

Victoria, BC.

I looked into buying a K-3 yesterday, but found all stock here in the suspect serial # range. A couple of the dealers were aware of the issue, having had returned units demonstrating the mirror flop issue. The dealers were all contacting the Ricoh rep to ask about this issue. I have left my name as one holding off purchasing until the issue is resolved.

Hopefully, more info will soon be forthcoming up here in Canada.

I own a K20D, have had it since Jan 2008. Many, many images taken. Winter, Summer - very hot (45c+), very cold (-35c+), and everything in between. Time lapse shots, sports scenes, general "snaps", many different lens, etc.

Never had this issue arise.

Dan / Adam,

Thank you for the comments. I had called Pentax Canada back in 2008/9 about this & was told word to the effect of "Yes, that is how it works. There is nothing you can do to change the 1:1 operation."

So, many thanks on a new technique!

I'll be trying this tonight...

Nominate. Could not disagree more with Manntax. Great image, love the diffuse fog/mist. The lines of dark against the lighter water & mist contrast beautifully.

Wish I'd been there to get that shot...

I was lucky enough to have this bald eagle sit still about 15 feet away for about a minute. Hand-held shot, on Green auto.

I have a K20D, have owned several film bodies (PZ-1 being the latest).

I've done, and continue to do, a lot of time lapse night-time shots. Star Trails, special effects, etc.

The K20D had this annoying 'feature' of taking 1:1 time to transfer the image to the SD card as the shot took. Ex. A 30 minute time lapse on B takes another ~30 minutes to transfer to the SD card = 1 hour per such shot. And yes, I use the fastest supported SD card that the K20D can handle.

Q. Does the K-3 have this same issue?
