My son needed a film SLR for some B/W project at high school about 3 years ago. I had a Pentax MX that had travelled the world with me for 7-8 years and all I'd done 15 years ago was take the batteries out and it'd sat on the shelf in the garage ever since.

New batts in and away he went !!.... The whole project changed his attitude and now he's in the first year of double majors in Film/Video and Photography and running his own photography business. He bought all Canon gear though.. :(

First post in a couple of years of visiting the site, but then I've only just got my K30 back I bought a year or so ago... !!

Bought my Pentax MX in the States in the mid 70's to replace the old Russian Zenith I'd lugged around the world, but once I stopped travelling the old MX was in the case, in the garage, untouched for the last 20+ years...... till my son needed a 'film' camera for use at school.
We dug out the old MX and with just new batteries he was up and running... He turned out some nice B&W shots from the lessons..:)
Playing with it made me want to start capturing images again and, as there's lots of beach and water around West Oz, a K30 seemed a good choice. However my son was now hooked on photography and I 'lost' the K30 as soon as it turned up..

Still, he now has a case full of Canon gear, a lucrative photo business shooting stills and a LOT of video for bands, skaters and weddings and just about to start a Film/Video/Photography degree course.....amazing what an old MX can do :lol:.... and I have my now well-used. 'new' K30 back !!!! .....Photos by the K30 but not by me..
