Thanks for your input BigMac, I'm sure you are correct; and I was lucky! What size JIS drivers would you recommend that I have for work on my Pentax. Thanks again SCG

Just for the future reference of anyone trying to remove the bottom cover on their K3 to fit a new battery cover door; this is how it goes. Remove all screws on the bottom cover, including the 2 that are only visible when you open the battery door. These are all Phillips heads PH00/PH000. Now if your cover plate is like mine, it will lift up on both edges but stick in the middle where the tripod mount protrudes. Mine was so tight at this point that I really thought I was risking snapping the bottom cover while trying to pry it off. But I got as close to the center part of the plate as I could, only using very sore finger tips, and pulled hard; off it finally came. Replacing the battery cover door, which I took off my donor K7, was an exercise in patience and frustration tolerance. The challenge is holding the return spring in place while you slide the axle bar through the door ports and the axle at the same time. Refitting the bottom cover required gently filing the tripod mount hole so it would fit back over the tripod mount. Then replace the screws. It is important to note that the screws are not all alike and will only fit in certain holes. To facilitate refitting the screws, I first drew a diagram of the bottom cover with screw positions highlighted then pushed each screw through its place in the diagram as I removed them in the first place. Now I have a functioning battery cover door, saving the $ 200+, I believe Pentax would charge.

When my K-7 suffered corrosion due to spending too much time with a water bottle in my carry on luggage, I purchased a previously owned K-3. Great camera, but the battery door is broken. Since the battery cover doors are the same on the 7 and the 3. I pulled the bottom plate off the K7 and removed the door assembly. Then removed all the screws I could find on the 3, even inside the battery compartment, but no luck It wont come off. What am I missing? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Just got my K-3 and also have a broken battery door. , I removed the battery cover from my non functioning K7. But for the life of me I can't get the bottom cover plate off the K3. I have all the visible screws out, even the 2 inside the battery compartment. but it is definitely hung up in the center area on both sides. What am I missing? Any help is gratly appreciated.
