Couldn't resist posing this model next to the gold tinted glass in the door.

I usually shoot with a zoom because of my subject matter; aircraft. However recently, I have had more people asking me to do portraits. I do not own a Pentax lens at all. I have a Pentax k-5 and I use Tamron and Sigma lenses. I have thought about getting a 50mm to help aid me in this new turn of events, but the money always seems to be needed for something else, so I just get by with what I got. It would be wonderful to be able to add this type of lens to my arsenal and be able to get a little closer to my subject and yet still achieve bokehlishous pictures.
Sample of my latest photo shoot. It is nice picture, but had I been closer I think I would have spotted her phone in her back pocket. Dang it! |

K-5's are rugged. I would not hesitate to buy used from a place like B&H. They actually give them a rating, so you almost know what you are getting. Visit the site snapsort.com and you will be surprised. It will help you to make up your mind. The K-5 actually scored higher than the K-5II and the K-5IIs. I have had my K-5 for a couple of years and I just can't say enough good about it.

Hey Folks! Greetings from a devoted Pentax shooter! Sometimes I think it is like being a fan of the Chicago Cubs. (Someday they will get there.) I have never shot Nikon or Canon for long periods and I just don't understand all the hype. I wish Pentax was more mainstream and after market manufactures supported it better, but oh well? I recently read a review on Nikon's new D4, a $6000 nut. It's still at 16.2MP, better noise control at high ISO's, but pound for pound I would take my little 'ol K-5 any day week. And I guess I do, where as that is all I have got. Cheers!
