I took it to the store today. The guy said he only knew how to work on manual cameras but started taking a look at the curtains for me. He picked up a tiny screw driver and started moving them, the next thing i know i hear a sound and he says it should work now! The rear curtain was stuck on itself but he managed to put it back into position! I am a very lucky guy!

Steve, I think you might be onto something there. Does anyone have a picture of what it should look like when the curtains are open?

After having a look at the inside it really does seem like there is a problem with the curtains. But still not sure how to fix it.

Here is the problem. So far I have updated the firmware, recharged the battery, and reformatted the SD card. As you can see the LCD works fine, but the sensor only seems to pick up a small streak of the image. Sometimes nothing at all.

Hi, the sensor on my k-30 is acting like something is blocking 95% of it.

When I take a picture everything is back except for a tiny small part of the screen. When I put it in video mode everything stays black except for the same tiny part of the screen which responds. It really seems like there is something covering the sensor. The LCD panel works fine. The menu shows up fine. Just the sensor is only picking up 5% (maybe more like 2%) of the picture.

I bought this on a auction site in Japan. The seller did mention this problem in the description but I only notice all of their great descriptions about it (I'm still learning Japanese). So taking it back isn't an option...

Anyone have any ideas or seen anything like this before?
