Taken in a park near Taipei, Taiwan. This image was nicely backlit by natural light and stood apart from the other flowers to allow for a dark contrasting background. Taken with the plain DA55-300 at nearest focusing distance, ISO 560.
No cropping or post processing, no use of flash or reflectors.

I like the K-50. It has a AA battery adapter which I make great use of. The only thing that is missing is MLU but I use the 2 second timer for landscapes instead.

My best advice is to get a good tripod and good quality ballhead. They'll improve your photography way more than getting the most expensive camera + lenses.
Markins M10 and a 4 section carbon fiber tripod is what I normally pack with me.

Sony earbuds have been best for me.
I had Jabra before but there was a bug in them and one of them stopped working. Fortunately it was within warranty and I was able to swap them for the Sony's.

I got a new film rangefinder, a Contax + lenses. NIB.
Did not over pay as "film is dead".

Oh and also picked up a new RRS BH-55 ballhead, almost new. Price was too low to resist.

I picked up a full rangefinder kit, unused/new. A Contax + set of lenses.
Bought when "film was dead" a few years ago so didn't pay much for it. Woop!

I like the K-50 a lot. Especially the fact I can use Eneloop AA batteries. The only thing missing is MLU but I use the 2 second timer instead. My 2 sons also use K-50's.
I sink my money into lenses. Camera bodies are depreciating way too fast.
So I bought several extra K-50 bodies as backups when their prices dropped.

Saturday evening (Dec 9) I went to the symphony. They got together with a choir and did the full Handel's Messiah.
My wife is in the choir. Was a great performance.
It was the Edmonton Symphony in Canada but here's the Royal Choral Society's version of the Hallelujah chorus. The soloists join in for that one.

Oh, and I should add that at lunch that day we happened to be at the same table as Mr. Bernstein and his wife. That was a very interesting experience.

I got a Really Right Stuff BH-55 ballhead. Used but in excellent condition. It replaced the Markins M10 on my tripod.
Got the BH-55 at a crazy low price. It's way bigger than the Markins. Is it better? So far both ballheads perform really well for my needs. The RRS & Markins are able to handle a 300/2.8 lens.

Interesting side note. I somehow got onto RRS' email list. I must have put myself on 20 years ago and they started sending me stuff in the last year. They seem to have gotten into heads & clamps for guns and other firearms.

Against the Gods: The Remarkable Story of Risk by Peter Bernstein
An oldie but a goodie. I was a young analyst too many years ago when my wife and I happened to sit in on a conference in New Orleans with Mr. Bernstein presenting. Peter Bernstein then got up and proceeded awe the entire audience.
