You've got a tall order for first time high performance aircraft capture, I shoot jet aircraft a lot but usually close to the airport or from my back yard. I would recommend TAV mode and let your ISO float between reasonable preset limits so you can adjust shutter speed when needed. Start out with at least 1/2000 sec, adjust your shutter speed for slow movers . Since you are using a 55-300 PLM you need the aperture set to at least f/6.3 preferably f/8. Use continuous autofocus with a medium focus point array. Try to acquire the target as soon as possible and track the target using the back button if possible. Occasionally while tracking the target "Bump the focus" by releasing and pressing the Back button to reacquire the target. Good Luck

Have you tried another lens besides the 18-135?

C-5M Super Galaxy in the pattern over the house by Larry Mc, on Flickr
Tail number 50002. I kept hearing what I thought was the usual C-17 in the pattern but I was hearing a different engine sound a sort of whine that I've never heard from a C-17 so I grabbed the camera and went outside to get a shot or two. I caught the aircraft flying toward me and the wings looked a bit different from the C-17 as well as the engine nacels. Upon closer inspection of the image the aircraft turned out to be a C-5M. A very rare sight at our airport.

There is a work around using Fx button assignment. I mapped the Viewfinder light to the Raw button, when the Raw button is depressed the Viewfinder light comes on turning the viewfinder elements red which allows you to find the target in low light situations. I use back button focus and pressing the A/F (back button) temporarily turns off the viewfinder light but releasing the A/F button turns the light back on. Not perfect but it works. This works in both AF.C and AF.S.

If you're waiting for something as trivial as black versus red focus points, you're going to waiting quite a while. I am an original adopter of the Mk III and rarely have a problem seeing the "Black" focus points when they are active. The 80d doesn't have a large bright viewfinder the Mk III does, end of story.

They X Sync cover probably has been the same for several years. My K-3 Mk I from back in 2013 has the same cover and it looks from photos that the K-7 uses the same cover also. There should be some sitting around somewhere.

Sort of, you can change the sensitivity which would have probably helped the OP's situation. I don't see any way to disable the sensor though.

Hi Lou,
Welcome to Pentax Forums, you'll find a friendly and helpful group of folks here. So jump right in! The MK III is a superb choice for your interests. Don't sell the 55-300 PLM short as the MK III has a great high ISO capability. You can shoot action shots in TAV mode which lets you set the shutter speed and aperture and let the ISO float upwards when needed. You can also set an upwards limit on the ISO so give the 55-300 PLM a go first, you may be pleasantly surprised.

I'm not sure if this technique is valid for all Canon inkjet printers or just specific models. I use refillable ink cartridges for the PGI 280 and CLI 281 Canon Inkjet printers so the ink levels can be visually checked for ink levels. The printer, when running low on ink, will give you a support code 1600 before it runs dry of ink. When you get this (1600) code just press the OK button. The printer will continue printing. Do not press the stop button. As the printer continues printing the printer will later run out of ink and show a Support Code 1689 for that particular cartridge then you will need to press and hold the stop button for 5 seconds then let go. this will disable the ink level monitor for that particular ink cartridge only. You will have to do this same procedure for every ink cartridge the printer uses. Since printers use different colors at different rates this procedure can take several weeks to completely turn off and replace all the cartridges. Prior to doing this procedure, you will need to have on hand replacement empty ink cartridges and replacement ink

Sounds like you need to change printer brands. I'm on my second print head because of my neglect (lesson learned). I've turned off the ink monitors on my Canon TS8220 and its still printing. With the Qimage Ultimate program it doesn't use the printer cleaning routine which wastes a ton of ink.

Glad the post was helpful to you! Qimage Ultimate is a top shelf printing program as well with loads of features, it's very cost effective. A quick Google search can get you loads of YouTube videos related to Qimage Ultimate.

The usual problem with most inkjet printers is disuse allowing the residual ink left in the print head to dry out over time. I use a printing program called Qimage Ulitmate that has programming that helps you keep the nozzles clean by exercising the print head on a weekly basis. Qimage can automatically run the printer on a schedule or you can run the printer when you desire to. The program uses only a very small quantity of ink to do its job by printing a test pattern of all colors used by the printer.

Thanks, I caught his YouTube sets a week or so ago. He has plans to do some more but hasn't finished them yet. What he has done are pretty good and unlike several others are easily understandable. PhotoLab from version 5 and 6 to version 7, has undergone a rather significant change in the way the UI operates especially with Local Area adjustments.

Have any PhotoLab 7 users found any useful in-depth tutorials on Local Area Adjustments? What I'm finding are just skimming the surface and leave a lot to be desired.
