I don't know about the iOS app, but on Android if you set the maintain syncing time to forever (and disable battery optimization on the app maybe? Not sure about if this is needed or not), the camera and the app will automatically connect whenever the camera powers on. Works perfectly for me every single time.

Came across this new strap on kickstarter the other day. Perhaps it suits the OP's need.

D-LI90 vs D-LI90P

I have a D-LI90P and 3 D-LI90s. I have always used the batteries interchangeably and charge them with the 4-contact charger. It's been close to 10 years and I've not noticed any problems.

Haven't thought about checking the contacts on the bodies though. I doubt Pentax would design them differently.

Best travel lens

For the past couple of years it's been the DA16-85mm.

I've recently bought a DA20-40mm. My plan is to use it as my urban travel lens. However haven't actually tried the idea out yet. Maybe it'll work out, maybe it won't.

It's a taxation issue. For exposure longer than 30-seconds it'd be categorized as a video camcorder and taxed differently.

Sorry, the above is wrong. I got my facts mixed up. Please ignore me. :(

I've been using one with all of my cameras since the K100D. I'm so used to it that I'm not sure what the viewfinder looks like without it, LOL.

Pentax O-ME53 on a K3

I use the O- ME53 with the K-3 and there is no issue at all. The dioper adjustment is to the side and the eyecup does not interfere with it. The slot on top does become an open slot so it looks like there's a hole there. But I've forgotten about it already.

Just push the original eyecup up and it should slide off. Then just slide the O- ME53 in place.

The best tip I learned from observing a famous pro fashion photographer work his magic when I started photography is to always visualize your shot before you actually pick up the camera and shoot. Plan about composition, lighting, and what you're trying to achieve and then try to implement your vision with the equipment you have.

Peak Design Slide (mostly as a sling strap, sometimes as a neck strap), plus a Capture clip, plus a Cuff wrist strap.

I like to have options.

Mine (new, bought it at the beginning of the month) emits a slight whizzing sound when focusing. Nothing I'd call squeaky though.

Peak Design Slide and Clutch

I use their universal plate. I attach my Slide to the left strap lug (when facing the back of the camera) and the right side of the plate. I then put the strap on my left shoulder across my body.

I use a RRS plate with the Slide, as I don't use the Capture clip. This combination works really well for me.

E dial customization

You can also hold the button while rotating the e-dial to change the setting. If you do that it makes a lot more sense to use the real e-dial to change the setting as holding the button and using the front e-dial is awkward, to say the least.

I always use this hold-and-adjust method so to me it's consistent. If I need to use a button to change something, it's always on the back of the camera.

I use a Gitzo Traveler series tripod (1541T, which is an older model). It's sturdy, light, and easy to carry around.

EV Bar (K50)

In M mode the EV bar displays the camera's meter reading based on the f-stop, shutter speed, and ISO (never had a K50 but I assume it'd work the same way). Now my question is why it doesn't do that with the Tamron?

K5iiS Upgrade question

I upgraded from a K5iis to a K3 and the biggest improvements I felt right away are the white balance and the exposure. Both are now pretty much spot on in most situations. The placements of the buttons also improved, IMO, especially the AF button.

Just a friendly reminder that you probably want to clean your sensor before you go out and shoot for the competition.
