#5 for me. As previously commented, most show decay with little or no reference to "junk".

Thanks guys, as an over 60 and new to the dslr genre I was fearful of damaging my camera. It does have an HDMI port so I'll get a cable and try that first of all but a hearty thankyou to those who responded to my query.

Can anyone please give me advice or point me in the right direction. I would like to know if it is possible to connect my K5 11s to a PC/laptop in a home studio to enable me to check exposure etc before taking a final image. I have seen this kind of set up being used on Youtube, but never with a Pentax dslr. Any helpful advice gratefully received:confused:

I'm in the camp where I have no problem with basic image editing to improve brightness, contrast, sharpness etc. and cloning out unwanted objects/blemishes such as a discarded drinks carton for example. But I am opposed to excessive manipulation. I want the image to remain a reasonably true and fair reflection of the scene and colours originally photographed.:):)

Sorry for being an old fogey (whatever that means), but am I the only one out here who feels that something is wrong with today's view of photography. Apart from on the "newbies" forums on photog sites it has become almost impossible to find an image which has not been digitally manipulated and distorted by photoshop or similar; and I omit to used a capital "p" on purpose as in my lonely opinion photoshop is used to ridiculous extremes and is being hauted far beyond its actual real life value to photography and its roots. What happened to the real images that the photographer saw through the viewfinder? What has happened to the challenge of going out in foul weather to capture the dark threatening clouds that gathered broodily before a thunderstorm? Do we really think it better to take an "ordinary" shot and digitally turn it into something a lifetime away from what the camera actually saw? These images I see posted on the vast majority of websites definitely have something to say, are without a doubt extremely artistic and have a place in todays Artistic society, but are they REALLY photographs? That's todays assignment - DISCUSS !!! LOL.

I noticed that you use some Godox kit. Over here (UK), there are two companies that I know of who sell Godox manufactured strobe heads. One of them sells straightforward rebranded stuff, while the other uses Godox to manufacture to their own specifications. Both these companies sell all the accessories for the heads and I'd put money on these being better quality than basic Chinese stuff so I'm thinking of going with them. Thanks for confirming my decision tho'. https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.png
:)BTW, before someone jumps down my throat, I only discovered this info yesterday, so the question was valid when asked.

:( I've been looking at reflectors/modifiers for a studio strobe flash. Are there any reasons NOT to buy the much cheaper chinese snoots/reflectors/barn doors found on Ebay. I mean, are they not designed scientifically (and therefore won't disperse/control the light properly) or is it the case that strobe manufacturers just want to rip you off by overcharging for a far-eastern made item with their name stamped on it? I'm not thinking of buying something with a "universal" fitment, I'll buy Bowens fit items but I don't want to spend £30-£40 when a chinese knock-off costs £10-£20 and might just do the same job..

At last - someone with the same problems I mentioned and they really are a nuisance! Like others I also tried my right eye (for about 3 seconds), Felt like I had an inner ear problem as it made me feel completely disoriented and a bit dizzy. (or perhaps that's just me). ;);)

Is there anybody out there who, like me, is left eye dominant? Do you have a problem, while using the viewfinder, of being able to reach the AFbutton or thr 4-way navigation buttons to change the point of focus etc. etc... If you do find this to be a problem, have you found a way round it? Got me beat!!! :(:(:(

Thanks @jatrax and @btnapa. Plenty to think about there. I guess if you're on a low budjet it's a case of taking the plunge and hoping for the best. All your points will be taken into consideration . Wish me luck.. LOL

Does anyone have experience of studio sync flash units. I've seen lots on Ebay but I've no idea about the ones from Hong Kong/China; makes like Godox, Quantuum, NicePhoto. Can't possibly afford the likes of Bowens new; there are one or two second hand but even they are >£250. Any thoughts??:(

Looks like there is no easy formula here, As I'm always sitting when I take photos (wheelchair bound), and I use a shoulder harness, as long as I breath correctly I can usually get as low as 1/10th sec before I get any camera shake. Turning SR off might be my best bet.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to help.:):):)

Thanks narual, I suppose that at the end of the day it's a case of trial and error as different tele lenses might throw up different results... ---------- Post added 08-25-14 at 08:36 PM ----------
Sounds like good advice, Parallax, thanks. I'll certainly bear it in mind and try to implement it when necessary.

Is there a concensus as to what (in camera) lens setting to choose for SR when mounting an A lens with zoom. Do you have to change the setting to suit the zoom setting or is there an accepted median/average that will work.?

I read on this site about the problems of the K-5IIs and asked a simple question. Now I'm being got at for not having the knowledge others have. Thanks guys...

I wouldn't say I'm anxious exactly. I'm one of those strange people who believe that if you are paying out that sort of money you expect things to work properly. Am I wrong to expect that??

:confused:I just read in the review of the K-5 II that - "The main weak point of the K-5 II is live view and video. Live view has noticeable latency, and the contrast detect autofocus system has not been improved since the K-5. On average, the K-30 thus focuses faster in live view than the K-5 II (see the numbers here).
The K-5 II's video mode offers no manual controls beyond exposure compensation, no focus peaking, and limited framerate options, including only 25FPS in full HD and 30/25 HD in 720p. In addition, the camera can only write .avi video files rather than the now-preferred H.264 .mov format. One problem with the .avi format is that without re-encoding, an annoying periodic clicking sound can be heard in many video players (including Youtube). This is caused due to a slight incompatibility between the various codecs being used to play back the files.

As I am on the verge of getting a new body, is this something I should be concerned about and on a similar thread, does the K-50 have a better/different processor. If so might I be better getting the K-50?? HELP!!!!

Thanks everybody. I'd say that ease of use was a bigger consideration than cost, I'll see what the prices are and if it's possible, I'll probably eventually get Lightroom as most people seem to be recommending that....Thanks again.
