The more I read and see the more I’m intrigued. Electronic shutter and an auto exposure mode for easy point and shoot action, paired with “manual control” dials for more deliberate photography. I hope this means legitimate shutter speed and aperture control and not a simple idiot dial.

I’m not thrilled by the half sized format but 72 exposures per roll is a real boon, as is the presumably compact size. I’m not expecting a K-1000 like build quality but I hope the design isn’t too plasticy/delicate.

If it catches on it will certainly be a significant model in the history of film cameras and the modern Film Renaissance (to the extent that’s really a thing). I’ll be proud to add it to my collection of Pentax film bodies I hardly ever use.

If I'm not mistaken, you did, surfar. I didn't want to weigh in until I crunched the numbers myself.

Keen eye. Thanks, Mark Ransom. A typo it is. Correcting that now.

Okay, so theres math. I'll take a stab at it. My findings will be in agreement and disagreement with previous posts. All measurments rounded to the nearest millimeter. Fuji's medium format sensor: 44mm x 33mm (4:3 aspect ratio). Full frame sensor: 36mm x 24mm (3:2 aspect ratio). It Pythagoras was not wrong, their respective diagonal measurements are 55mm and 43mm. The medium format sensor has a 28% longer diagonal- a useful metric for calculating crop factor. It's 22% wider on the x axis, and 37.5% taller on the y. What really counts for gauging image quality between the two, imo, is overall surface area. At least insofar as image quality is influenced by sensor size. The MF sensor has an area of 1452 square millimeters, vs. 864 square millimeters for the full frame sensor. The medium format sensor is 68% larger.

I was told there would be no math.

I own Fuji and Olympus bodies, and a couple of Panasonic lenses. I have confidence in the ability of any of these companies to produce a great FF mirrorless body.

I'd be thrilled beyond words if Pentax is working behind the scenes toward a serious entry into the mirrorless market, but I don't expect anything anytime soon. Most of my interest in mirrorless if for manual focus lenses though. The brand of the body and a developed ecosystem of lenses isn't a huge concern- so long as I can use my existing primes. Even if I go medium format, I have an array of Pentax 6x7 lenses for the occasion. According to one of Ken Wheeler's videos, several of the full frame Nikkor lenses cover the Fuji GFX medium format sensor with little to no vignetting. Presumably the same might be true for some of the full frame Pentax lenses.

If true, this is indeed welcome news. I've had my eye set on full frame mirrorless for a while, but the range of options has been poor. Nikon's entry into the market seems half-hearted and the prices are way too high for what the cameras are, imo. Panasonic has been competently making mirrorless cameras for years- they might get it right.

I hear rumblings that Fujifilm is set to release a medium format rangefinder style body at a very low price point. Something like this might cause me to leapfrog over my ambitions for full frame mirrorless.

I'll come along for the ride, as I've been having quite a bit of fun with this series. The casual, voluntary themes are cool for inspiration- and for exposing strengths and weaknesses in my own skill set. I need to work on developing a better eye for "light." lol.

Congrats on the Explore! But... Photos can be un-Explored? Seem kind of rude, huh? Maybe it's happened to one or two of mine in the past and I never noticed. I can think of a couple that didn't deserve the honor in the first place. lol.

For what it's worth, it looks like my Monopoly board photo from the 19th was explored. A decent enough photo I suppose but probably not my best from the month. We'll see if it "sticks." :)

And sorry, folks, for my participation with comments not being very consistent. My relatively slow home internet makes navigating between multiple Flickr pages an arduous process. But I am working to up my comment game. I'd also like to offer up thanks to all of you who have taken the time to peruse and comment on my photos where you can. I haven't acknowledged each comment individually but they're appreciated all the same.

I'd like to hear your method. I've been able to do it using the Puffin browser. But it's a clunky process, and hardly worth the effort unless there is a real need.

Had a little trouble leaving comments this morning, having to reload a few pages multiple times before the comments would "stick." I haven't seen the spam notifications.

I'll continue on as well with my pseudo-Single-In-Challenge with the Oly E-M5ii and the Panasonic 25mm f:1.4. I started mid month in November, so I'll stick with it until about the 15th, then I'll let my hair down a bit for the remainder. The monochrome adventure has been great fun but it'll be nice to shift back to color for a bit :)

Thanks! I see my first day's effort (bottles photo from the 16th) has been rewarded by the Flickr gods with an Explore. So far so good :). Looking forward to getting into the full swing of things. One more shift at work today before 9 days of holiday, so I should have plenty of time to play over the next week.

Well, I haven't been here in a while and I'm late to the party for November. But I'd like to jump in anyway if it's alright with you all. I'm challenging myself to a month with the Olympus OM-D EM5ii and the Panny 25mm f:1.4. I've had the combo a while and it's never really clicked with me. But I would like it to. It has the potential to be a great lightweight walk-around kit. And I've been on a monochrome kick, so in that regard I'm in line with the month's theme. If I start now, my thirty days will of course run into December.

I'm trying to get caught up posting images from missing days. And I'm way behind on comments. The home internet has been dreadfully slow (especially with Flickr). Unfortunately there are no great connectivity options in my remote location, and I may try to find something slightly better when my current service contract expires. My cellular service is decent, but navigating this challenge by phone is a pain. I'll try my best to get back into the swing of things.

Lovely images, pathdoc! What film? I also have a recently Eric CLA'd Spotty F and the SMC Tak 50 Macro. Your shots may inspire me to take this combo out for a whirl.

Congrats! And mysterious ways indeed. I think, judging by the number of faves, my photo of the pup from the 2nd was also explored. I didn't think it was that great of a shot. This often happens when I return to Flickr after a prolonged absence. It's almost like the algorithm is saying "Welcome back, please don't leave again!"

I have the K 28/f:3.5 and it's great. I had a false start trying to single with it several months ago. I need to give it another go at some point.

I'm a little late to the party, but will do my part to fill out the ranks. Will be shooting with the A series 24mm f:2.8. Mostly on the K-1 for ultra-wides but also on the Olympus E-M5ii to try it out as a normal lens (48mm equivalent).

We discussed some of these things on the float - namely, how grand it would be to see the river and countryside as it was 500, 1000, or 10,000 years ago...

Ha! There's plenty of swamp booger country to the south of here. I grew up in South Louisiana. The beauty of these southern Mississippi hills is what drew my family to here many years ago.

A small aside: The town of Summit, MS, a few miles to the North was named such because it is the highest point on the railroad between New Orleans and Chicago. But that's not saying much when you consider the endless miles of corn flats... [emoji1]
