Thanks for your kind welcome folks; I've just been looking through my cabinet and I found an old SV that I had forgotten, my lovely old K1000, 2 x P30's and an MV 30; I have a K100D with 18-50 and 50-200 lenses + a Tamron 70-300mm, and I'm expecting delivery tomorrow of a K10D (with less than 5,400 actuations). I also have a couple of old K mount third party bodies and a lot of old K mount, legacy lenses too; perhaps its time I sold my old EOS 10D or my Oly E-1 - - - - or maybe not, doh !

Hi Brian.
I had exactly the same problem with my K100D, it would drain even very high quality NimH batteries after about 10 shots ;-(. My solution was to buy some RCR-V3, Li-ion rechargeables and a couple of chargers from Ebay, (total cost about £25) these give me about 250-300 shots per charge and are just about the same size to carry around as a set of 4 AA size batteries.
P.S. you will need at least two RCR-V3's to power your camera.

I'm the Grumpy Old Git from Wales, (aka welshgog); I've been taking photos since the days when I used to have to screw your lens into a camera, and I still have a good few of those old lenses in my cupboard. I shoot mainly landscapes and flowers/ insects in film and digital and although not a dedicated Pentaxion, I own 4 or 5 Pentax cameras all of which are well loved.
