Photo Tip: One of the most common mistakes by new photo bugs is jamming the shutter button when taking a photo. Squeeze the shutter button until it releases. Jamming the button will introduce camera movement in the resulting image if the shutter speed is slow. Practice until the squeezing becomes a habit. Good habits make good photos.

I love the geometrics of the lights. The place looks pretty clean too.

Here is my philosophy; if you have big scenery, shoot that; if you don't have big scenery, look for small things and people to shoot. The buildings in older towns in Pennsy have lots of architectural details from which you can make interesting compositions. Good luck.

One of the "fun" things I do is cruise the garden section of Home Depot and Lowes stores and take macros of the flowers. For this occasion I was using my favorite Pentax screwmount 50mm f/1.4 lens hanging on a Panasonic G3 body. I like the ability to enlarge the view to assist in manual focusing. The 50mm lens has a field of view equivalent to 100mm when mounted on the Panny. Unfortunately a lot of the exif data is not recorded when using a "foreign" lens on the Panny.

Of the three, I like the sepia version best. There is promise in the color version, if it were lightened some. Beautiful model.

My first real 35mm camera was a Honeywell H1a Pentax. I got it when I was an undergraduate. I later sold it back to the guy who sold it to me and acquired a Pentax Spotmatic with the 50mm f/1.4 lens. What a sweetie that set up was. I imported the camera from Japan myself and paid about $130 bucks including customs. Because of the Honeywell agreement with Asahi, the Pentax name had to be obliterated on both the body and the lens. The lens still had black paint on the outer rim of the front of the lens when I finally sold it in the early 2000's. I'll see if I can find some of those first photos and post them. I used that camera and lens until the early 1980's when I bought one of the first Pentax point and shoots. Autofocus and auto-advance. Wow!
When it came time to get a digital SLR I ended up with a Canon XT. That was because the camera offered 8mp when the other manufacturers were only offering 6mp;. I've stayed with Canon cameras because of my lens lineup. I do use Pentax M42 and K-mount lenses on my Panasonic G3. I continually dream about having a Pentax dslr in addition to my Canon, but then I think about all the flat spots my wife would put on my head.
I enjoy reading all the lens reviews.
