Hey everyone, I Use pentax as my gear for wedding photography, and I cant see why you cannot use pentax as a pro, the cameras are well designed, and have all specs you need, for example, last month I did the last wedding on my K20D, this is a camera that helped me to get to know in wedding industry in my country. Wanna see my last wedding with this camera and all film stuff are on Nikon F5 and Fuji

Hello Everyone, I Do wedding and Family photography, It´s so challenging!! but I love it. I use a K20D and manual off camera flash, you know that a K20D have a lot of problems focusing, speed and High ISO quality is bad, but that is not a limitation to make good pictures, even in fast situations, here are my advices.
1, Know your gear, from head to tail, use it with eyes blinded, that´s key, you can't struggle with technical adjustments, when you are in a hurry.
2, Anticipate! eyes wide open, all the time, let your guts guide you!
3, Use battery grip, I can't imagine working without one, makes so confortable and balanced your camera, remember that I use a FA* 28-70 (so heavy after 6 hours)
4, Its all about light! Don't expect to have great results without great light, if there is not a good day light source, learn to use off camera flash and create your own quality light.
5, Good Lenses, good lenses good lenses! |

Hello Everyone!
I´ve done the hardest test I could do to my K20D, an entire 8 hours wedding,I´ve just done it a couple of times, and I liked a lot, It was a very hard work, and now, I can see clearly the pros and cons about the K20D, I know that many people won't do a Wedding with that camera, but risk was worth it, and this was one of my best photographic experiences, it take the most of my knowledge, and my technical skills, mi mind and body was working together at maximum, and knowing the Cons of that gear made me to use an additional effort this day, more than 1,000 images was taken and 650 was delivered to the couple.
Gear was: K20D + Grip / fa*28*70 2,8 / F50 1,7 / Manual off camera flash, and canon eos as a back up (never use it).
I planned to use Av and Tv with manual control of the flash every time, but I end up using camera and flash Manual all day long, it was easier, and gave me more control and consistency .
The worst: AF in dim light and moving subjects, Iso performance, and noise even at Iso 100. Dark areas, like the man clothes have a lot of noise.
The best: Trusty, rugged, great color, customization, Good Raw files that allowed me to squeeze every drop of color and contrast, grip and confort (imagine the weight: the FA*28-70 + camera + grip + flash transmitter, that was really heavy).
Battery use was pretty nice... only One and a half was use it for all that work.
The result? A happy Couple. they were so happy to see the pictures, and quality... That made me feel so great to have take that risk.
Now I appreciate more my camera and I´m gonna still use it a lot, While a K3 or the new FF comes to me.
Here are some pictures, ask for more if you want it.

I love so much my K20D but when I look at the dark zones of the pictures I take, I get so disappointed about the lots of noise even at iso 200, the shadows of the dark clothes lose a lot of detail. what software do you recommend to eliminate noise? I´ve heard about the Topaz Denoise5 do you think it is better than the Ligthroom?

I have to do a Bridal Photoshoot very soon, outdoors, maybe a park or garden, and gonna try all three lenses I have, I also have the F50 1.7, I love the bokeh at f 1.7, but its too soft, I´m gonna try it at f 2.8 and enjoy it´s sharpness, also gonna try with FA* 28-70 2.8 and F 70-210 ,

I suppose he means FF.
But I was thinking to myself, that maybe the focal length changes because of the sensor size, but optical distortion of the lens stills there...

What do you all think that is better, Between a Good 50 or 55mm VS a larger zoom? like a 70-200 2,8 or similar.?
Cliff Mounter always says, 50mms are only for environmental portraits, and 70-200 for closer portraits, because of better flattering look of the face.

Hey everyone.. I shoot Weddings and my first payed one was past december, It was so risky, I used my K20D + FA* 28-70 f/2,8 + F 50 1,7, and Canon camera and lens as a back up. only off camera flash, I couldnt sleep like a week before, it was a beatutiful and classical wedding, but thank god¡¡ They are really happy with the result, and me too, you can find some pics here Juan Roldan Photography
I want to upgrade my pentax gear... but I really don´t know if buy a longer lens, or a better camera body like the K5IIs, I need better iso and AF performance, they were my biggest challenges. What do you think?
