K-500 metering trouble with Kit lens

Thank you Adam for the replay,
Yes the mount & the lens contacts have been cleaned properly.
The aperture is snappy & moves freely.
The problem is,the lens is a standard 18-55mm f3.5-5.6. At the wide end i.e; at 18mm with an aperture setting of F3.5, the camera meters for the above said settings.
But when fire away & shutter operates, the aperture just snaps close. Thus resulting in a dark image.
The aperture lever mechanism seems to be the cause of malfunction here.
To cross examine the aperture lever mechanism, I tried optical DOF, whenever I try optical DOF settings, the mechanism just steps down properly.
When i tried to shoot, the aperture is snapped close to f/22.
May be it has something to do with the body, as the aperture lever is controlled in the body.
May be an examination by a professional may resolve the problem,.
Thank you.

K-500 metering trouble with Kit lens

Hi,
I've been a happy Pentax user from past 11 months. I bought a Pentax K-500 last July-2014.
Things have been quite smooth and I'm quite pleased with the image quality, performance it offers.
The K-500 helped me to establish myself in line to become a professional.
Nowadays I'm largely using a SMC 50mm f2 manual lens for most of my assignments.
Yesterday I switched back to kit lens DAL 18-55mm, but the camera is consistently under exposing the images. Despite using the proper exposure in manual mode. (Even in auto mode with EV compensation of +5 in bright daylight)
Key pointer is, the screen appears dark, even in live view in bright daylight.
When I switched back to manual lens and used in Av mode, where camera meters for me, the metering works flawlessly. Even in manual mode, green button meters just fine.
But in kit lens, the photos are just under exposed despite every effort.
I cleaned the contacts and lens, everything seems good.
As this is my first DSLR, seeing it malfunction is disheartening. Even more the Pentax service network is non existent here in India.
Currently i've switched back to manual lens as i've a pre wedding shoot tomorrow.
Any inputs, suggestions are a welcome.
Pentaxians in India please provide details of service centers in Banglore.
Thank you,
Regards.
Edit: The problem being, the aperture is closed down to f22 despite choosing f3. 5 in camera. Thus resulting in dark images.
any help is appreciated.

Hi,
Today was changing my kit lens to pentax M 50mm f2 , which i bought a few days ago.
I was swapping the lens to evaluate the new lens & was enjoying the IQ of the dirt cheap lens of mine.:)
Again as i was into swapping, i started noticing a thin strand of hair in my OVF, i tried blowing air but no changes.
By visual inspection I'm not able to spot the hair.
It really worries me seeing the OVF with a hair projected into it.
Any help in this regard will be appreciated.
Is it fine to swap the lens often, with respect to the lens mount? is it harmful?
Thank you!

How I became a Pentaxian!

Well,
Journey begins me as a small kid in 90’s, in a birthday party.
A photographer, with a tool in his hand with a big flash on it.
It was the first I had seen anything like that, Apart from a Minolta pocket camera.
I went ahead & asked him about his tool, which he held. He told proudly that it’s a Pentax & it shoots really good photos. I still remember the tone & smile on his face when he boasted about his tool.
Fast forward to present day, me, now a graduate & searching for my first DSLR to get to the next level of photography. For me taking photos is like driving a car, because it requires anticipation, patience & attention. It’s not like one needs a DSLR to be a better photographer, but I was at a stage where I was looking for something which is faster, quicker & takes time to master, I was looking for a tool.
So the search started, reverted back to my room & browsed through various E-commerce sites in India. That’s when I stumbled across Pentax k-500. Pentax, I don’t know what magic that name had done on me, but I was drawn to it. So, found some reviews in process of doing so, found this community which I’m a part of it now.
A timeline was drawn, to visit a few shops & feel the tool by hand, if priced rite then purchase. As I am not a big fan of online commerce, I fancied the good old way. In my home town, I found every kit of Canon & Nikons, but no Pentax. So, found some contacts from them in Bangalore, when enquired only on demand supply was entertained.
Now, I was in a situation where I was offered Nikon & canons but my heart was stuck to a Pentax, Which I haven’t seen in person. Finally asked the shop to get a Pentax for from Bombay & paid.
Many of my friends questioned my logic for deviating away from well established brands & purchasing a Pentax which no knew what to expect from it. Even I’ve wondered what’s making to me to do this.
Finally, the day arrived, went to the shop to collect my tool, Well it was like blind date. I was about to get hold of the Pentax, Which I madly obsessed.
In the very first feel of it, I knew I’ve been right about it!
The the thing which kept me going was that man & his tone, which I can now understand why he said so.
My tool: It’s a Pentax & it shoots really good photos!
