How Do I Uninstall/Deinstall RawTherapee from Mac

There's no uninstall routine like in Windows. Just putting the application into the trash works well enough.

But I use AppCleaner to find all these little configuration, library files and whatnot. They're usually rather small and shouldn't get in the way, but I like it tidy. ;)
Just drop the application you want to remove into it and you can delete it, and everything associated with it, in one go. Has served me well for years.

/edit: oh, since you deleted the application already the cleaner won't be of much use. But next time, maybe. :)

I never shoot video - now I have a question!

That's not much of a rule nowadays. Unless you're talking high-budget movie and commercial work. I'd say we do over 90% of our (professional) video productions using DSLRs like EOS 5Ds and such. Most customers just won't cough up the budget for a RED or ALEXA anymore. Their quality is indisputable, but for most film work you really don't need it.

Just as one uses multicopters for aerial takes nowadays, rather than helicopters. It's way cheaper, more flexible, and for "getting it done" it's usually good enough.

In food terms, if you will, a spork might not be perfect for either soup or spaghetti. It doesn't have style either. But it will get the job done without ruining your new tie. ;)

I love Pentax. But as I work in film, I find it quite annoying that it's not much use for it.

Last years leaves, when I first got my 10-24mm and still had the GX10. Trying around with HDR.
Sadly, this fall a storm took all them leaves off before I got the chance. :(

Aww, congrats and lots of joy with this fine piece. It's still so fresh... and shiny! :D
Hope you made the right choice for your type of shooting.

I found the manual a tad useless. Yes, it tells your there's this and that setting. But not what to do with it.
You could check the PentaxForums K3 review, it has some advice on recommended settings, that ain't bad. And a more recent one I found helpful "Pentax DSLR shooting modes explained".

Anyhow, have fun with it and share some photos if you like. :)

The rules seem rather absurd to me. How much meaningful or helpful stuff can you say in a day? So the biggest spammer wins? Adding likes into the count helps a bit, I guess, but looking at the likes given in this thread... uhm... not that much.

And here was me thinking yesterday, that those 8 posts I made then were quite a lot already...

Welcome to the forums and thanks for your introduction. :)

For a long time I held off on the flash, too. But ever since I got one I keep finding new ways to use it, especially as I can trigger it off-camera. And the brighter it is outside the more it helps to lighten up them dark shadows. Using flash outside in the sun sounds weird, but that's where I most use it. With a diffuser attached to it.
A reflector screen is a cheaper alternative but more obtrusive as well.

Just proves once more, that a good great deal of what is declared art, or sucsessfully sold as art is the ability of someone to talk out of his, err... well, you know. :p
But I do give the photographer credit because the cutout is irritating.

I've seen the winning picture of a digital art contest once, which was a print with just a white, pixelated Pi on black ground. Maybe with a resolution of 50x50 pixels. Absolutely unimpressive, but the deep thoughts and explanation of the artist would have filled a small book = win. :hmm:

Welcome to the forums. I think the Q is a very interesting system and sure have it on my wishlist. With a lens adapter its crop factor would make my 300mm an incredible 1680mm. Adding the 1.4 TC to bring it to 2352 mm. Watch out, Moon, I'm gonna get you!

Have fun with your new cameras (even if one isn't a Pentax). :D

A sensible thought you had there, but clearly that FA*200 would have been mine. My precious! :p

Suggestion Neutralize the 'why I won't buy a k-3' thread

I think that was actually one of the very first threads I ever read on this forum, when I was researching about the K3.
I don't think it really solidified my choice, but it did make me chuckle and think along the line of "well if this is the worst folks got to say about the camera it must be awesome!" :D
(I kept reading other reviews intensely before my finger finally twitched while hovering over the "buy" button)

I'm not saying you don't have a point. And it could do in the lounge instead, maybe even with an off-topic or irony tag. But if something like that scares away possible buyers I don't mind them not using pentax and share in my world. Or the internet, coming to that. Bit of an entry test, maybe? ;)

One doesn't even have to read past the OP to get the point of it.

/edit: oops, there's the satire tag. Never mind then... I really should read threads to the end before replying. Well, except for the thread in discussion here, heh.

Welcome to the forums, Matt. :)

I only started photography in the digital age and kinda started and stuck with the Pentax system. Not too hard since I'm only on my second camera. But I'm wondering what made you switch worlds?

There's also a good number of very inexperienced users, who cruise along to pick up useful infos in threads like these. Eventually, hopefully, becoming mighty experienced, of course. :D

New auto extension tubes for K and Q mounts

Quick word of warning. I've just ordered two of those tubes from SRB... or wanted to. It seems there's some trouble about quality or functionality, as I just got this info as reply:

QuoteQuote:

Thank you for your recent order.
However we have discovered a fault with our recent batch of Pentax extension tubes. We have returned these to the supplier for examination.
We will refund these items on your order. of course and please accept our sincere apologies.

Who knows if this is a general product problem or just, as said, a faulty batch. I hope it can get sorted soon as I'd really love to get me those tubes.

Hello and welcome. :)

I think picking your DSLR line is a delicate choice to make. Camera body is one thing, but once you start investing in lenses you are somewhat stuck with the brand. Especially if you don't make a living off it. For me it was a bit accidental to end up with Pentax, but one I haven't regretted yet. I did a lot of research back then and liked what Pentax offered. The underdog image has always been appealing to me, and I like how they seem to save on PR to offer a good bang for your buck.
Brand lenses are well priced for good quality. And their cameras give you features you otherwise pay dearly for with Canon or Nikon.

I'm too new and not experienced enough to really judge. But I believe lenses like their 50mm f1.8 for portrait, or the 35mm f2.4 are great glasses for so little money.

As for MP... it got stupid when it turned into a race. For computer chips it once was GHz, who could boast the fastest ones? Until it finally dawned that it didn't matter all that much and GHz actually went down again. Same with MP. Too many of those on too small a sensor could actually harm image quality, but manufacturers kept at it because it was a great marketing instrument. You shouldn't go just by the numbers on the packaging, but check if they really make sense.

Carrying bag suggesgtions

Hi there,

everyone has their own tastes and preferences, of course, especially when it comes to photo equipment. But I'm a big fan of Crumpler bags.
They come in all shapes and sizes and have several that should fit your need, though their model lineup changes pretty often. I have a half photo backpack (bottom half is for equipment, top compartment for normal storage) and a full photo messenger bag. Build quality is quite good and sturdy, and the design intelligently thought through.
And I like how they don't look like your typical camera bags, but padding does add some bulk.

Incoming bee (composition of 6 pictures). The 300 makes me feel a lot safer, when the subject in question is swarming with them buzzers.
Next day I took my newly arrived DA* 300mm for a quick walk in the zoo. Much bigger than what I expected, but what a beaut. I'm much looking forward to what it can do in the wild, too bad all we have around town seems to be 99% pigeons and crows. I guess I'll need to explore some more. :)

Sadly the weather turned from bad to worse... baboons didn't like it much either.
But it was rather funny how all other DSLRs ran for safety when the first drops came down. And somewhat ridiculous, just how many P&S used their flash at distances of 20m or more. Yes, the camera tells you it's so dark you should use a flash. No, it still won't help! Poor, annoyed critters.

Welcome to the forums. :)
I've only just joined myself but had been browsing them for quite a while and there's a wealth of information to be found. And it does seem a pleasant and helpful community.

You just gotta love night shots, especially in a city like London. Yours are way better than mine, before I had a tripod, but maybe I just didn't have enough coins to make them right...
