I was reading from previous post that somebody stated the 17-50mm Tamron is a good lens. From reading the reviews, it got high remarks on value. Is the flare really an issue with the Sigma 17-50mm ? Compared the two, did anybody pick the Tamron over the Sigma ?

There's a reason why I purchased the K3 and choose to make a long term investment. I do understand the amount of money that goes into quality and value lenses. I was looking at the DA 10-17. I just needed a decent lens for the time being before upgrading my glass. Appreciate the recommendations on the FA77/1.8,FA85/1.4, as well as the FA135/2.8.

Thanks for the advice flaviopetrone, redcat, and wikstorm . I will be ordering the Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 as my first lens. The 18-135 Pentax WR lens will probably be my next purchase (thanks for the advice VoiceofReason).

I've read great reviews for the 50mm Pentax f/1.8. Would it be difficult to shoot live shows with that lens? I would need to be further back from the front of the stage and the crowd may get in the way of my shot.

Hello everybody,
I recently purchased the Pentax K3 (without the lens) and wanted to ask members which lens would you recommend to shoot live events (outdoor and indoors) as well shooting portraiture?. I'm looking for a conservative investment for the time being and upgrading in a few months on other glass.
Currently I'm looking at...
-Pentax DA 35mm f/2.4 AL
-Pentax DA 50mm f/1.8
-Pentax DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL WR
-Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM
-Pentax DA 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 ED AL WR
These are the few that I've researched. I would like to ask your opinion on these. Looking to start off with one lens first and gradually purchase more glass. I'm open to other recommendations as well.

Thank you Adam for the advice. Would you happen to know if there's any SYNC issues when using an External Flash? I also wanted to use either K3 or K5iis with studio lighting equipment.

Hello,
This will be my first time transitioning to the Pentax brand. I used to shoot with a Canon 7D and have decided to move on. I wanted to ask for your advice. I shoot a lot of music events (in-doors, dark, fast movement), outdoor events music festivals, portraits, homes/property (indoor rooms,etc) and some landscapes.
I know the Pentax K3 has come out last October and have read many great things about the camera. I have also read many great reviews about the K-5IIs as well. I'm looking for a camera that I'm able to shoot in low light situations with good focus points, and also shoot portraits, etc.
I am leaning towards the Pentax K3, but knowing how technology is progressing, I'm sure they'll be a newer Pentax camera coming out with better features and have thought about getting the Pentax K5IIs in the meantime. Before making the investment, I wouldn't want to by the K3 and then Pentax releases another body this or early next year.
I wanted to ask for your advice on anybody who has experience using these cameras (k3 & K5IIs). I would appreciate any advice/info.
