Well, I guess prices vary around the globe. Canon 300mm 2.8 and its Nikon counterpart in my country costs around 6 grand, like in the US.
In any case, if one day Pentax announces DFA* 300mm 2.8 SR for 6000 USD, I'm game.

Paleoanthropology lectures from academia. Seriously.
My new favorite orchestra is the Danish National Symphony. They're outstanding musicians. My wife is a choral singer (soprano) so it's great to hear a good choir/soloist (especially without autotune!) + orchestra. I love this rendition of Ennio Morricone's score from The Good, the Bad & the Ugly:

The Super Moon was hiding behind some wispy clouds last night but the sky was clear when I got up early this morning. Pentax K-3 and Sigma 150-500mm F5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM, moonset at 05:58 AM from the southern hemisphere.

I totally agree - would be so much better without the cars in the background. I am not really a fan of too much image manipulation (probably also because my Photoshop skills need more development)

I've been using the Prograde Digital in some non-pentax DSLRs , they have been great. I decided to try them after reading the Company is headed by former Lexar and Sandisk exes..No clue which execs, but that with the great reviews, I thought I would try them.. That the comparison can even be seriously done with a full-frame Sony and the results so close is a statement of how far Pentax has leaped with the K3 III.

Just watched a hands-on livestream of K3 iii, even the old-gen SDM lens like DA* 55mm can track walking people at f1.4 with ease (AF-S speed is also noticeably faster), and it seems that screw-drive motor isn't loud anymore. Custom image profiles are also more polished so that red doesn't oversaturate and is well under control (though this is not a problem for RAW shooters). This camera looks promising, hope it gets a good price (and sale).
