Just practicing. Damn thing flew right over my head.
I let the dogs out to do their thing and this crop duster comes flying right over the house.
Of course I didn't have a camera in my hands. So I grabbed the camera and chased this guy down the road where he was dusting.

Better than the first one.
Look close up. You can see the cable leading from the cockpit to the Tail.
I put the camera auto focus into airplane mode and when it locked in on it........that was it.
The AI picked it up and focused continuously.

Got lucky in Northern Norway on a 7 day's hike with lots of Northern Lights in the sky. It was my first time so late in the year and it was freezing a little bit at night. The last part of the trip I stayed in a mountain cabin but most nights I was glad I bought a better sleeping bag with only some tent fabric between me and the weather.

Cheers,

Remco

I really wanted to get it closer to the horizon, but the twilight and haze washed it out until it was well up in the sky,
still, worth the effort

Nature A Drumlin Woodchuck

One thing has a shelving bank,
Another a rotting plank,
To give it cozier skies
And make up for its lack of size.

My own strategic retreat
Is where two rocks almost meet,
And still more secure and snug,
A two-door burrow I dug.

With those in mind at my back
I can sit forth exposed to attack
As one who shrewdly pretends
That he and the world are friends.

All we who prefer to live
Have a little whistle we give,
And flash, at the least alarm
We dive down under the farm.

We allow some time for guile
And don't come out for a while
Either to eat or drink.
We take occasion to think.

And if after the hunt goes past
And the double-barreled blast
(Like war and pestilence
And the loss of common sense),

If I can with confidence say
That still for another day,
Or even another year,
I will be there for you, my dear,

It will be because, though small
As measured against the All,
I have been so instinctively thorough
About my crevice and burrow.

Sears Lens Club

Your Sears is the equivalent to a Pentax-M. The Sears-A's will (probably) say "KR" on them and have a setting on the aperture ring (probably) reading "(A)P".

The lever is simply what opens and shuts the aperture, you need the electrical contacts (a series of little dots, left of the lever) for the lens to know what its doing and automatically set the aperture for you.

As a word of warning, if you DO pick up a Sears KR lens (or a Ricoh lens, for that matter), do yourself a gigantic favor and read up on the "Ricoh pin". You could save yourself a nightmare of a time if you can identify and nuke the pin ahead of time, because leaving it intact runs a risk of having the lens getting jammed onto the camera.

They have the lens mounted in reverse so the rear element is now the front and they are looking for a way to protect it, i.e. a filter holder for the rear K-mount. I'm not aware of any such adapter, so cutting the middle out of a rear cap as suggested sounds reasonable (although I'd not sure how you'd accomplish that either on the typical hard plastic cap, sounds dangerous actually)...

What is spot metering -K5
Posted By wildman

For me spot metering is an advanced technique primarily for those that shot in RAW and want to expose for highlights and then later bring up the shadows in PP.

Essentially it's a way of getting the optimum DR out of a sensor without having to resort to exposure bracketing.

For you, no doubt, it sounds complicated but it's not;

First (original) frame straight out of the camera - spot metered on the brightest spot in the frame in this case the light coming through the window and let the shadows fall where they may. This ensures that the highlights are not burned out.

Second frame - same file as above but after PP to normalize the shadows so they appear as they would to the naked eye not the way the camera metered it.

Right now it's probably nothing you want to deal with but later on it's a technique that's well worth mastering given the limitations of camera sensors.
