All,
My company has assigned me as the photographer for the upcoming Christmas Celebration.
The Celebration will be attended by approximately 50 people.
The room itself has about 10 feet ceiling with dark grey walls and dim lights.
I have no clue about the shot list for Christmas Celebration.
Does anybody has previous experience taking photo for a Christmas Celebration?
Mind to share your shot lists?
What kind of lighting technique will you use in this situation?
Is it enough by using 360fgz in p-ttl mode?
thanks,

Youngster,
what lens did you use when taking the pictures?
I just got Mir 20mm, so I guess you cannot have more than one 20mm glass, can u? :)

perform the same experiment using longer focal length (let say, 100mm).
will the shutter speed still set to 1/45 sec?
afaik,
the shutter speed will (more or less) follow (1/the focal length)
so, when the shutter speed is set to 1/45sec, you are probably using focal length of 50mm.
I'm not really sure about this so I'll check it later.

just curious,
in Av mode, what is the shutter speed reading when spot metering to that green leaf?
Is it closer to 1/90th or closer to 1/20th?

when you post the pictures, please add some information like type of metering (matrix, center weighted or spot) and the focus point position in the picture during the metering process.

yups....that is correct..
but since you still use a cord to connect the camera to the flash then it is not classified as 'wireless' (I guess..) :)

If the flash is put on the hotshoe, the focal length number in flash will be similar (or close enough) with the focal length of the lens, provided that the zoom in flash is set to Auto.
But in wireless mode, you cannot set the focal length number in the flash. the focal length will be set to 24mm.
if you need more coverage (for instance when using 18mm focal length), just pull out the diffuser.

you can fire Sunpak 383 in Tv or Av mode.
Or, did I miss your point?

Super has wireless capability, either acts as master (when put in hotshoe and trigger another 530 super), or as slave (using pop-up flash as trigger).
in the Super version, there is a feature called Flash Modeling to check for shadows before actually taking picture.
When you say "the best", what is your criteria?

+2 for La Crosse Charger.
I like the "refresh" feature.

I experience the same problem with K10D.
the way I understand it, the shutter speed was chosen based on the ambient light.
try to shoot in Av and compare the shutter speed number with camera turned On and Off.
In my experience, I got the same shutter speed number.
(as if the camera does not know that I use a flash).
My workaround is to shoot in Manual or TAv and spending some time to find a good combination of Shutter, Aperture and ISO number.

instead of focus-recompose,
why not using the SEL and choose which focusing area for AF?

thanks for all the replies.
I had several shots using high ISO (1600) and after looking at the results (just raw conversion via Bibble without any noise reduction) ,
I was surprised with the noise and made me thinking,
is this still acceptable, OR
is there anything that needs to be done to improve the IQ

I'm planning to shoot in a low ambient light and thinking of increasing the ISO to 800-1600.
In order to get the optimum noise reduction, which one is the best practices?
- apply noise reduction in camera only.
- apply noise reduction on post-processing (in-camera noise reduction is turned off)
- both (in-camera noise reduction + post-processing noise reduction).
thanks.
