Are you specifying any command line parameters to see the Shutter Count?
I just use `exiftool photo.jpg | grep -i shutter`, to pull out the plain text line.
The image above shows 3561 for me, as well.

Simple? Do you intend to make those who have had troubles sound like idiots? That's how it comes across.
Have you had to deal with Pentax warranty service within the past 15 years?
Regardless of coverage under warranty; you still have to pay for shipping and insurance (or gamble on damage being turned around as "your fault").
When you need to send your same item in for repair four times, then send it off to Ricoh, that gambling money ads up.... A lot.
The time waiting for repair, as long as 5 months, multiplied by three to five trips... the last potentially waiting for shipment out to Japan and back, the expense of rentals, or buying new equipment outright, goes up enormously.

This all fine and good. If your box of bulbs goes out, you simply return it and get a new one.
Or don't waste your time in line for a return, and simply buy a new one for $1.
This is hardly a comparable experience by any scope.
If there is a failure on your Pentax equipment and warranty repair is required, the US has only a single warranty repair shop. And it is absolutely dreadful.
If they fail to do the job on the first try, you must return and allow them to fail at the repair three more times before Ricoh deems the repair a failure.
For which each cycle may take a matter of months. At which point, Ricoh may finally choose to do nothing about it.
(This has happened to three of four items repaired. The fourth came back with only enough remaining damage to be irritating and not worth further hassle and another month out of my ability to use it)
This is a far cry from available options with a box of light bulbs.
It is also not the experience people have with other camera brands.
Sure there are always failures, That isn't even a viable argument.
Pentax is a bit unusual in that it is locked into a looping pipeline of failure with no viable alternatives to drive a desire to succeed.
Sure other brands have repair failures as well. But if you are unsatisfied you can try another repair center.
With the only existing US Pentax repair center, if the repair center fails, so what. Where are you going to go?
Nowhere, and they still get their money -- even if they simply ship the damaged item back to you untouched.

Just FYI, As of the last few releases of LightRoom, GPU will help quite a bit. It will work without, but many of the adjustments will benefit from a GPU.
Most relatively current cards ae going to have GPU anyway... but if you're going to get any real bang for your buck, saving on a gfx card with poor GPU implementation is not going to gain you a lot of benefit.
Sadly, I'm many years out of the built-it-yourself game. But I noticed your comment above about GPU not impacting Lightroom, and wanted to add that bit of info.

Limunar 3 and On1 are getting into the photo organization game.
On1 seems a bit better overall in many ways. Not as good as LR for editing in some ways, but the organization seems decent.
Luminar is terribly flawed/buggy and shows only tiny filmstrip thumbnails for viewing the set of images. It has a long way to go to actually be very useful.
I think Dartktable is another option and free. Lots of people like it, but it has crashed every time I tried running it.
Personally, I cannot imagine why someone would purchase old software that is essentially End-Of-Life'd and completely unsupported.
You're potentially one OS upgrade away from the software being unuseable.
At least get the trial of other software and see if one of them does what you want before throwing money at Adobe.

Which camera, and are you able to select continuous shooting mode? i.e. is the option not available, or is it single-shot even though you have continuous shooting enabled?

Issues happen.
Could be failure to eject properly, but I have yet to ever see that as an actual problem in practice... and I tend to practice that a lot, somehow.
Could be static, as unlikely as that might be. Could be that the card is going.
A good thing to do is to properly and fully format the card. NO there I is no difference formatting "in camera" vs "in computer" that might cause read/write behavior differences.
I mean fully write every bit on the card, which is very difficult fo do unless the formatter takes into account the behind the scenes issues with accessing all of SD memory. (and neither the camera nor most computer based formatters handle that very well)
Use the following program; SD Memory Card Formatter - SD Association
Although not its intent, it can also shake out bad blocks. Since it does hit every bit, it can have the side effect of causing the SD card's internal OS to mark the block(s) bad and make those inaccessible, thus eliminating future errors. At some point, massive or repeated block elimination will indicate a bad card.
Regardless, it might help make the card more stable if it is a one-off issue, and not a failing card.

Nice.
Having redundancy is never a bad idea!!
I am always paranoid of them breaking while running up and down the field with my K1 + 70-200.
I really should look into finding a way to attach another set.

hehe, didn't think of that. Good catch on the details. I'm already used to 1/200 with the K1 as being "normal".
All Pentax cameras (at least the digital ones) are hard wired to disable the non-PTTL flash pin when shutter speed is faster than the sync speed. :mad:

Yeah, years ago they used to advertise a sync speed of up to 1/1000s. I wrote to their customer support repeatedly. Finally got one of their technical engineers who agreed their calculations were off. 1/125 to 1/160 range was the fastest one could reliably get their triggers to work.
In most cases the lower shutter speed won't matter... but when it does, you're just out of luck.

Is this a consistent and repetitive problem? Does it occur only when using LR or simply by removing and re-inserting the card in/out of the camera?
If the formatter suggested by Stevebrot doesn't help, it could be an indication of a bad SD card. More unlikely but possible is the camera.
Static is also always an issue... it's a finicky thing to eliminate completely but also not a terribly likely thing to affect the SD card with normal handling.
I've seen this happen once when using my laptop with LightRoom.
Another time I had to format a bunch of cards (in camera simply because I was in the field without my laptop). One of the cards came up with a not formatted error.
None of the cards had an issue a second time and I've been using these same cards for two years+ now. So I put it down to static or other anomaly.
If tis is a regular incident... something is wrong. (... "thank you captain obvious") 8-)

Not around my neck but in, or hanging from, my bag. The K1 has great brighter screen, so I don't use the Hoodman Loupe much any more, but for the other cameras I still do.
It is bulky, the lens always needs re-adjusting, and costs way more $$ than it should... but I have not found anything else that shields the light as well or easily. e.g. my hands, a hat, sweatshirt, all work to some degree but have their own issues.

Have to second the choice for Peak Design. The whole system is thought out to be strong and versatile. i.e. you don't need to remove or move parts to be able to put your camera on a tripod.
I've had a couple of the loops (look like string but really tough) on my camera for a few years now, and just thinking about replacing the oldest of them.
The newer loops are made better, but I have not had the need to replace one yet.
I am also out in the rain, snow and sun a lot, so they hold up really well.

I brought this to my last overseas trip. It is tiny, folds up fairly flat, but will open up as a mini tripod and can clamp to many items such as a fence, railing, etc....
Surprisingly, it supported my K1 with grip and 24-70 lens. It won't support the 70-200 very well, as it wasn't really made for a full frame with full sized lens to begin with. :-)
I am usually out with the 28-105 anyway, so it works really well in most cases.
I found a great little plate to add onto it for about $20.

Ditto on configuring your device (phone, PC, etc...) to not ask to join other networks. You might go as far as to ask it to forget all other networks that might have previously connected in the area.
But do allow it to remember your K1's network so it will auto connect, should it get disrupted for some reason.
It should remain connected, and when communication is frequent, the camera may not even go to sleep. My auto file transfer program pings the camera every few seconds to see if new images are available, and the camera never sleeps on its own over the course of multi-hour shooting events.

In the same boat many times. I can see why people like it. The bright gold around the shore lines is pretty cool and rather unusual.
Focusing in on a smaller portion might make take away the distraction of the branches and brush.
But otherwise as far as the over all shot, I too give it a "meh".
Don't feel that is a bad thing. You're thinking critically about your own work.
Of course, it's all subjective and tastes differ.
Normally I put it off to people having to lose nor gain by being honest. It may simply be they have no taste different tastes. :-)

Look at the ThinkTank StreetWalker series. I have the larger one for the K1 with grip, 70-200 and a few other lenses and flashes.
My wife has the smaller one which fits the K3/lenses size very well.
They are the most comfortable camera bags I've worn. Been hiking for 10+ hours loaded with gear and had no back, neck or shoulder strain. K1, grip, extra batteries, 70-200, 24-70 and 15-30 -- all relatively heavy lenses. tripod, bottle of water, etc... I can't recall the total weight but 20+lbs is probably not out of the question.

Installing has been stuck at 100% for the past 15 minutes.
Canceled, nothing was installed. (naturally).
Tried again, installation stuck again at 100%.
Guess I won't be running this one. Back to Lightroom for now. :-(

FYI, support was quick to respond. Unlike other software (and I don't understand why), it does not ask for admin rights to allow installation of software to the standard /Applications folder. But installing to the User's application folder worked. (they suggested logging in as an administrator which shouldn't be necessary)
Anyway, it seems to be working. It will probably take a day to two to import my photo catalog. :cool:

If you don't need control of the camera, I did write a Python app that will do wireless transfer to your desktop. (so you do need Python programming language installed if it doesn't come on your computer by default)
You can then do what you want with the images. One workflow would be to have LR auto-import from that folder.
a.k.a for those who used to have EyeFi cards.
It is slow since the K1 wifi is horrible, but it works *much more reliably* than the USB tethering if you don't require control from the desktop. Plus no wires to trip over.
I use this at events where I shoot upwards of 1000 photos during the day. Lower resolution JPGs are sent over wireless in about 3-5 seconds.
You can find the app on GitHub. There is a version for the K1 built-in WiFi, as well as the FluCard for other cameras which otherwise also does not allow direct and constant download to the desktop.

Lack of light won't matter for your zone focusing. DOF will remain the same, so focusing rules will be the same whether in dark or bright light.
But you may want to rely on manual focus and try to trying to auto focus on a particular person in the group. If you are just guessing at distance, you might end up missing a bit front or back. You may need to overshoot your DOF calculations to be sure.
Actually focusing will be more reliable to get everyone in focus. Having a flashlight will help if the ambient lighting makes focusing difficult.
What is the particular issue you're having?
How big is the group? Can you line them up in one or two rows? Or is it large enough to go more than that?
If the group requires a large DOF, you might have to use f11, f16 or higher which is going to make for a long shutter speed and motion blur.
In which case your options are to up the ISO, or add more light (flash?) to avoid motion blur from people breathing, shuffling, and those who just cannot help but speak every five second lest they die on the spot.

I just toss them loose in one of the compartments of my camera bag.
I never cover them, except when flying. TSA may have issues with uncovered ends on batteries, even though there is no physical way anything in the same container will touch the indented contacts. In this case I just put a piece of gaffer tape over the ends to appease the man and avoid missing my flight. :cool:
