Thanks Sagitta...love the shots you got...and I got my wide angle...I got the Sigma 3.5 used...it's very clean and takes great pics...I think I did the right thing and I'm pleased with my purchase. I should have this lens for a long time ...and the pics really are superb....

For all of you who have helped me about my wide angle dilemma, I made my purchase yesterday. I was in NYC and went to B&H Photo and got a used Sigma 3.5...it was rated a 9 on their scale of 10 and took amazing pictures ( I had my camera with me).....I think it was the right choice and I'm glad I got this one. Just wanted to let y'all know. Everyone has been so helpful and nice, I can't tell you how much I appreciate the help....thanks again....

Thanks Sagitta....not sure I understand all you said but I think it gives me "stuff" to think about....I'm a bit of a dunce yet about all this...Today I went to a seminar about DSLR camera's. I learned a lot...and I've bought a "dummies" book on dslr photography to help with the basics...anyway, I'm not taking pictures for a living so probably the f/5.6 will suit me fine and I really should try and save the $'s...thanks for your help, you've been really nice and I appreciate it!!

Well, I've browsed ebay and amazon and the f/3.5 is around 649.00...I can get it from 47th st photo in New York...there were some f/4-5.6 for 499.00 was about average. So....I'll have to think....I'll probably go with the f/4-5.6 and save the $'s but then again for abt $150 more I'd have the better lens....sigh....what to do, what to do...I just love those pictures you took with that lens...they are so spectacular.....but then again....I probably wouldn't notice the difference between the two lens anyway..sooo.......

fgaudet....wow...that really is a nice lens...sure does take great pictures....and you are an exceptional photographer. I'll price the 10-20 3.5 and see if I can afford it...and I'll also check out the 5.6 which will probably be more in my price range...thanks so much for sharing your photos...they are really beautiful...especially the second one shot at 20mm...I really love that one...thanks again...sorry it took me so long to answer you...I got tied up and haven't been on the internet in a while...

Sagitta.....gorgeous pictues...the color is amazing and they are crystal clear...I'm going to price the 3.5 and see if I can find a deal...may have to settle on the 5.6....I love your pictures, you too are an exceptional photographer...I'll let you know what I do. Thanks so much for all your help, I really appreciate it!! Oh, btw...I love the firehouse picture. You got so many different shades of black and grey and white and so much shading...it's a very impressive image....

John.....thank you so much...your advise is very sound and something I really needed to hear. Good suggestions that I will do, you are right I need to learn my camera before I go "hog wild" and buy equipment. I will practice and let you know how I do. Thank you again, I can't tell you how much I appreciate your post.....helped to put my head back on straight. Have a good night, I hope we speak again.

The suggestions about going to churches to practice is a fabulous idea and one I will do. Thank you so much for taking the time to help me. I really appreciate it. I will let you know how I do on my practice. Thanks again.

Hello Fellow Pentax Peeps......I want to buy a digital wide angle lens for my new K-50. I have searched the forums and have not really found a good answer. There were a few folks leaning towards a Sigma 10-20m F4...which would be in my price range. Alot of folks like the Pentax 12-24m F4 but that lens is a little pricey. What would y'all suggest. I am going to Portugal in November on a riverboat cruise and I want something that will take good pictures inside churches and nice landscapes. I am really a noob at photography and my camera (I'm still learning) so please be pretty specific about your choice. This lens would complete the lens I needed atm; I've got 3 so far. I do have a Sigma Mini-Wide L:28 f 28mm that I guess I used with my Pentax (Spotmatic F) 40 years ago; but I'm not sure if this is wide angle or not (remember I'm a noob). If I can use it I'm not sure how because it won't screw into my new camera, it's way too small and it's not a K mount. So, I think I should just buy a new one. I would really appreciate any help anyone can provide...thanks and have a good night :)

I went to Europe on a Viking Cruise in July...it was awesome, btw.....and took 3,589 pictures from my point and shoot (didn't have an SLR at the time)...I'm going to Portugal for a 10 day river cruise (reason I bought the Pentax K-50) and I'm hoping to take a ton there too. I love digital, I have to say.....it's nice being able to view a picture you took and see if you need to take it again. I'm really excited to have the SLR on this trip, wish I had it on my last trip...so many of my picture didn't turn out...especially inside the churches in Germany and Austria, didn't do so good there. I'm excited and hope that my K-50 will do better than the point and shoot (won't mention the brand..it wasn't a Pentax) did on my last trip.....thank you so much for responding....have a good night :)

Thank you Mark for the information about the lens....I think my old Spotmatic F lens are screw mount so I guess I'll be needing an adapter...I'm sure I can find out about that in the forums. I'm really enjoying digital, instant gratification, used to have to wait forever for film to be processed back in the day. Thank you again for your kind "welcome".

Hi All....My name is Carynn and I just bought a K-50 kit with 2 lenses; 18-55mm and 50-200mm....I'm very excited! My first SLR was a Pentax Spotmatic F that I bought in New York City back in the '70's; have quite a few lenses for it that I hope I'll be able to use with my new K-50. Long ago I got a point and shoot and the Spotmatic F got put up and I haven't used it in years. I decided I wanted to use a SLR camera again so I looked at Canon and Nikon but remembered how nice my Spotmatic F was and what great pictures it took and decided that I needed to stay with Pentax. I'm glad I did.... I remember so little about using an SLR camera so I'll be reading everything you have to offer here....I've got a lot to learn....I look forward to talking with y'all from time to time. :)
