until then, what I do is instead of getting so close like you are doing, back off a couple of inches and take your photo from there. It might not seem like you are getting close but you will have a image that is in better focus. you can then later crop the image a little to get the closeness you want. That is what I do and I use a macro lens, the important thing is to keep shootin' and experimenting, glad you are on the forum and sharing your work with us.

FYI, it's a Carpenter Bee. It does take patience to use the Q, I've tried and pretty much just use it for insect video, and the K5 for stills.
I'm glad a hobby has started to motivate you, that's what they're for.

you must have been really patient to grab that close up with such a wide angle lens! Well done....! For the contests you should scroll down under the photo sections and find monthly contests...I think this month's theme is sweets.....you will have to enter it directly there...the contest for the lenses though is about how many posts you make....and this will count as a post for you towards that.....

Hollywood Forever cemetery hosts the annual Dia de los Muertos festival. People dress up, build ornate altars and exhibit artwork.
Some promote a cause.
The cathedral mausoleum hosts the artwork.
Johnny and DeeDee Ramone are buried here.
Getting your face painted is popular.
Everyone has fun in their own way.
This is the main stage.
Both Douglas Fairbanks Jr and Sr are in the white crypt at the end of the pool.
This is where I came in.
Paramount Studios is on the other side of the wall from Hollywood Forever. |

Have been browsing through old photos recently - you might see me post some of them. It's nice to go back and see that photos from cameras over 7 years old still hold up!

I have to admit that after two days of trying, I'm frustrated, too. After posting pretty much everything I can think of that's clever or relevant today, I'm only up to ~20 points with three likes, and I'd need more than 40 to even crack the top 10. In the meantime, my notifications are swamped with updates on threads I'm only peripherally interested in, making it much harder for me to follow the discussions that interest me more. I think I'll be bowing out of this contest, which has me pretty disappointed because I was really looking forward to it.
