What happened to all of the rest of the beautiful nominated photos? ---------- Post added 02-16-15 at 06:02 PM ---------- I nominated number 12 and voted for #12
Shows creativity. Artist had to plan and execution is genius!
Great job, I hope you win!
Wondering if #14 was done with video?
There were a lot more beautiful photos with many nominations, what happened to them?

Handheld using Pentax K3 with Pentax SMC FA 80-320mm lens (focal length 320mm) at F 6.7, ISO 100, and 1/60th second shutter speed to allow the subject to take part in creating nice motion blur effect of the image. Taken November 29 2014
Pictured is a Pine Siskin which are very social birds but aggressive towards outsiders. Watching their action compelled me to capture the motion and aggression!

I sure wish we'd quit having to view pictures that are out of theme. Doesn't give much credence to the contest that they are even nominated.

I have found that MANY businesses do not even respond to email (or you get an automated response) which is frustrating. I quit trying that route years ago and use the toll free numbers provided. When I called Ricoh/Pentax, I not only got a live person immediately (no wait) they were super responsive, and helpful! I think the trick is in having the correct number for your type of call.

Did you read the above post:
Ricoh USA doesn't sell parts direct to the public any more. Doesn't mean Customer Service can't connect you with a supplier but you won't get one out of Denver.
Just call us at (800) 877-0155 from within the United States. Our Customer Service representatives are more than ready to help.
Also, the domain is us.ricoh-imaging.com.
prac.pentax.com has been dead for at least two years.

Try calling the online dealers and ask them if they have any in stock that are not bearers of the suspect serial number. I'm sure they do. You can have it shipped to your door!
Even if you happen to get one, like I did with my first, they were happy to replace it. I suggest you read my response on Pentax forum to "To buy or not to buy" for details about return policies and helpful information. My second K3 has been problem free and it is not in the serial number range of suspect cameras. ---------- Post added 12-08-14 at 06:33 AM ----------
I only had it happen during still shots. (and right out of the box, so it was sent in for exchange)
I LOVE IT! ---------- Post added 12-08-14 at 06:38 AM ----------
Thanks for going through the work to track that suspicion! I have read elsewhere that the fresh batteries (first full charge) trigger the issue. My fiance has an Alpha 77 (Sony) and his did the rapid firing (it's mirror-less) on the first battery charge,. Battery had to be removed and replaced to get it to stop,. Since he wore that battery down, it hasn't re-occurred, ---------- Post added 12-08-14 at 06:39 AM ----------
amen to that!!
I've owned Minolta, Sony., Olympus, Pentax K-01 and K3 dslr's and K3 is TOPS! I still have my 2 Oly's and K-01, they're nothing to sneeze at either!

What email address did you use? That would be helpful for people with similar issues! I've not had luck through email, but get a live and helpful person when I call.

It happened to my fiance ONCE with his Sony A77.
Figured it must just be a glitch. It took a picture of a waterfall and added or overlaid something we could not discern to the picture. It was weird.

Apparently you haven't read my detailed experience in response to that question on the Pentax Forum thread "To Buy or not To Buy"
I don't think people would make "a mountain out of a molehill" if they read that first.
I can tell you this, You couldn't PRY my K3 out of my hands!!!!!!!!!:)

Members Reporting the Issue
So far, in the various threads about this issue, between me and Jhmos, we've counted a total of 152 people who have reported having the problem at least once. This is a complete list. The names with stars are the ones that have also reported here in this thread (the ones without stars have reported in one of the other threads linked above). I will update the list as more people reply here.
So far, the issue seems to have been reported in serial numbers ranging anywhere from:
482XXXX to 493XXXX (black bodies)
and
2573XXX to 2578XXX (silver bodies)

To see which version of firmware is on your K3
Navigate: menu-scroll to tool icon scroll to page 4 scroll down to... firmware-scroll right with toggle it will show what version of firmware is installed. ---------- Post added 11-08-14 at 09:57 AM ----------
You are welcome, I hope it helps a lot of people calm their fears and quell the "mirror flap hysteria"!
