unfortunately it won't do 6x9 in a single shot, there were a few reasons for this but what I came to the main conclusion of was that if you are shooting 6x9 you probably would want to do a stitched shot anyway to make the most out of that massive bit of film. It also would have cost a fairly large amount more when it came to fabrication due to size limits with the injection moulding company I am in talks with.

stitching, so far has been exceptionally easy and I've had perfect success rates with both microsoft ICE and Photoshop, with neither trying to force weird perspective or aspect shifts and they are very fast due to only needing a collage style composition with no geometric or vignette issues.

Apologies for not replying sooner to this thread after introducing myself, I'm without a proper internet connection until Thursday. At which point I will start uploading short youtube videos displaying the product, how to use it, addressing a few questions and examples of how I colour correct.

Hi Folks,

My name is Tim and for the last couple of years I've been working on bringing MoopScan to life.
I've come here to get feedback from people like yourselves, looking to digitise their negatives/slides and may be frustrated by the current options.
One option I came across when looking for an alternative to using a flatbed was using a DSLR and backlight to take photos of negatives. This offered a lot more flexibility with the RAW file support and improved sharpness even when using modest equipment.
I put the idea into practice and liked the results, but disliked how cumbersome the setup was, so I set to designing a product to improve this. What I came up with is a backlit system with almost limitless versatility in use with any combination of body and lens with a filter ring between 37mm and 72mm.

I have just received the first few parts back from the 3D printers for the final prototype, shown here is the base unit, the 135 film format tray, 1 cm adapter and filter ring adapter. Not shown is the 120 film format tray and various other sized adapters.

Here is the first shot that I've used as a test. It was shot with a vivitar 24mm, Nikon F90 and Kodak Gold.
Equipment used is Pentax K5, Pentax 50mm 1.8, 48mm Extension tube
This was formed as a 3 shot panorama and has not been sharpened, click here for the full size.

I hope you welcome me to your community and if moopscan is something that may interest you I would love to hear your comments and questions, I hope to bring this to kickstarter soon and really want it to bring more people over to the joys of film photography. With your help I can make it the best it can be!

Tim

Hi folks,

My name's Tim, happy K5 owner and Film enthusiast!
I'm currently in development of a new product for people looking to digitise their negatives, I'm a one man show and I've learnt a heck of a lot to get to where I am today and I've come here as a long time lurker to try and get some feedback on my product before I send it to kickstarter.

Apologies if I sound like a salesman, I would obviously love it if you want a Moopscan, but I'm here first and foremost to talk to the community and have a good chat!

Look for me over in the processing and scanning sub forum if you're interested!

Tim
