I use enigizer lithium ultimate in my K-m they are very light batteries.
at moment
K-s1 with 18-55mm white £249
K-50 body only £319.99
K-s2 body only £399
Will see if local shop has a K-s2 as would like to see/hold before commit to buying

got it working sort of by extracting the contents of package.
New to mac and forget can do that.
but keeps crashing. will have reload and try again.
You link was useful thank you although was for camera utility not the software but but me in right direction so im grateful.

I have a mac now after moving from windows.
I have lost my camera disc.
I am requiring photo browser and laboratory.
on pentax site are only updates not the program.
Can anyone help me?

Thanks guys!
Mostly the shots are indoors on a stage, something like a beauty pageant.
At a distance as I usually at back or midway down the hall and on a chair to get over everyone's heads.
I usually use a Tamron LD DI 70-300mm.
Actually my favorite lens.
weight could be an issue, lighter will be better as I have weak arms and prolonged holding can be problematic.

did not know about "as shot"
However I did convert using "photos" app in the end.
I then spent 2 hours rotating them 90 degrees lol

neither of them worked.
thanks though guys.
adobe raw converted PEF to dng
and unable to extract jpegs.
and the instand jpeg from raw cannot open PEF files.

Took bunch of pef files yesturday and my niece in law want a copy as they of her daughter.
The camera took RAW as I forgot to change to jpeg for her.
I have a mac and do not have the pentax browser or laboratory.
seems to be no download on pentax site only and updater.
How do I convert batch as there lots to do.
will take too long do each one in the camera.

I still have my trusty Pentax K-m camera and has never let me down.
Only my own lack of knowledge has...
only 8901 shutter counts.
Well been using camera more as my grand niece is a carnival queen.
So looking to upgrade.
Been "out the game" so long I not sure what's out there.
But with my low budget looking along lines of:
Ks1
Ks2
K50
Would like as much input as possible please.

For off cam flash units I have a pentax 200 thing and a vivitar 283 both have variable outputs and also a cheap wireless flash trigger kit from ebay too!
all work well as I too shoots automobiles.... (not done much flash work yet though)
sorry this post probably dont help you much....
but the old stuff can be as good as the new!

Well i use 16GB APACER class 6 cards in my K100D Super and my K-m
never had an issue!
and lifetime warranty!

Gulfer that looks like it!
not bad as a trade off i think!
very sturdy.
strange leg arangement compared to normal 'pods....
will take a bit to get used to!
but i like it!

Well me and a friend have a barter system.... I gave him something and i get something back...
well this is what i got back....
It says "kennett Engineering" on the top of the stem and one of the legs...
any ideas on model?
nothing on the net!

I been using one of these and a vivitar 283 as well!
no problems for 2 years!
just found an AF200S in my garage!
stuck batties in and it charged and fired!
so will use the 200S as its pentax and will be safer!

I worked at 1/30 inside!
I was in Tv mode!
Worked outside in several Tv settings!
Think that it MUST have been poor batteries :o
and think I do not get the "lightening bolt" in view finder because the camera cannot tell when the 283 is charged? maybe yes?
but the flash is love the new energizer ultimates!

with NEW energizer lithium ultimate batteries in the flash unit....
and a Tv of 1/650 the hotshoe flash WILL fire!
but the batteries in the cam are now depleted!
I'll stick some rechargeable on charge and try outside tomorrow!

I do not think my camera has seen any damage as the wireless flash trigger (Ishoot brand) works fine as does my friends flash gun in my camera.
The "2000" has only been on my K-m once as has no control over flash output and sees little use!
the 283 is the main flash I use, and works well inside, and in low light.
the bolt in the view finder is the one that tells me a flash is required (or so the cam thinks) it will show if i have no flash on camera, and flashes.
if i put pop up flash up it flashes and fires the flash, if in bright light, I DO NOT get the bolt symbol...

works inside ONLY IF in the view finder I get the flashing lightning strike symbol!
but will try a much faster shutter speed and see what happens!
I would have thought that if flash on shoe it over ride the pop up anyway?
so will fire as if it was the pop up?
but they ARE old flashes!
my maybe they are not good enough?

They are triggered from the hot shoe and on occation from the wireless kit!
works flawless with both!
the output of the flash is regulated by the opical sensor on the front of the flash unit!
which is variable with a dial on the 283!
and is usually set to its LOWEST output!
