Thanks for the quick reply. I am leaning towards the modification just because how cheap I got the lens and I am pretty happy with Pentax cameras (and their mounts). I agree with you that paying more for adapters than the lens itself is counter-productive. Thank you again for the advice!

Thanks Kerrowdown, there is quite an extensive review of lenses available @ Pentaxforums! I am slowly reviewing.

Hi Jean from France! I was checking out your review on your Yashica lens as well as your posts about the mod. process. If you could take a look at my link here: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/58-troubleshooting-beginner-help/276719-y...-f2-k-5-a.html it would be most helpful. Thanks!

Hello Pentaxians,

I have been searching through the forums to the answer of my question, but have not found it so I will ask the question once again.

I recently purchased a Yashica ML 50m f2 lens for $5 and was wondering what route would be best for adapting it to my K-5.

1. Use an adapter off the internet: Amazon.com : Neewer Black Metal Lens Mount Adapter with Optical Glass for Contax/Yashica C/Y lens to Pentax PK / K Mount Camera Body, fits Pentax K7 K5 K3 K50 K30 K2 km kx kr K1000 k100d k100ds k200d k10d k20d : Camera & Photo

2. Try the PK+MM: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/6-pentax-dslr-discussion/205344-multi-mount-pentax-k.html

3. Or do a "Frankenlens" mod : https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/10-pentax-slr-lens-discussion/181760-rico...tos-input.html

I don't mind modding the lens. It doesn't seem overly rare and I have the tools to do it. My only question with the mod is: do you grind down the under side of the three locking lugs or grind completely around the ring that sits against the DSLR mount?

Thank you Undot for the warm welcome and kind remarks. I will hop on over to the lens reviews and check out your suggestions. I have been interested in a faster prime lens because I like shooting low light as well. I found a Yashica ML 50/2 for dirt cheap last week and I am looking into Riorico's mod or perhaps a PK+MM.? That will be another thread in the beginners/help forum though. Will post a link when I do. Anyways, thanks again for the hospitality.

Hi All,

Brian here from Florida. Recently moved from Alaska to Washington state. I have had my K-5 for about a year now, but I am recent to the forum here. Have been looking to upgrade my kit 18-55mm lens to something different. I like shooting outdoors and random things.... I am a total amateur, but wiling to learn.
