FWIW Went to B&H a few years back and bought a Benro TAD27A and a Benro IB1 ball head .Got both for under $200. I have a K3II and the DFA 150-450 and it is great. The tripod is aluminium not graphite but it's very manageable.

Just want to second this.... I have had a few similar experiences with my eneloops and found cleaning the battery and holder plus camera contacts fixed it.

I was aware of the DxO financial issues, but I decided to upgrade from Optics Pro 11 to PhotoLab. It was a good decision as the PL product is great. I have been going back thru years of DNG files from my K3II and K500 and reprocessing some files and have created some keepers from otherwise mediocre files. Hopefully DxO works their way out of Chap. 11. It's a risk but I don't want to be tied to monthly charges.

I just got the Canon Pixma Pro 100 from Adorama for a net cost of $69. It's a $400 photo printer. If the deal is still on, you get $50 of free 13x19" paper, a $250 cash card and an additional discount at checkout. You have to send in a rebate form for the $250 American Express cash card. Initial prints are great.

I've been using the Sigma and am happy with the performance. If I need to rectify any objects I use DxO OP 11 with the ViewPoint addin.

I have a K500 (non weather sealed version of K50). I started to experience this and I do the following. Use the AA adapter and load it with Eneloop rechargeables. Before I start a shoot, I switch to JPEG and put it in high frame rate. Fire off 10-20 shots with the aperture wide open.Towards the end of the burst, it will operate correctly. The camera is fine for the rest of the day. I may be lucky in that I can kick it out of the stuck aperture block condition.

I have been very pleased with DxO Optics Pro 10 and I just upgraded to OP11. If I am doing pixel shift images with the K3 II, I pre process the PS images in PDCU to 16 bit TIFFs and then finish them in OP11.

Take a look at the Sigma EF-610 DG Super. It does a great job and is cheaper than the Pentax version.

I have bought several cheap AA battery holders and they work fine. You have to treat them with care however. I use only Eneloop AA batteries and I get a ton of shots from them. Cheap NiMh cells don't work well. Stick with Eneloops
