Miranda 930 TDC Flash another question to the more knowledgeable members. It was suggested that I sell this flash and make a few quid. Having thought about it's not worth the trouble for the low price it would sell at ebay etc. As some of you know I'm very wary about attaching this old flash as I don't want a burning smell coming from either the flash or worse still the camera. I would like to know though whether it would work safely mounting it on a tripod and plugging in a lead from the hole at the side of my camera (I don't know it's name). Once again any suggestions will be welcome.

Yeh I think maybe I'll cut my losses and dump this flash, I have a pentax AF540FGZ II that the wife got me form Christmas and a pentax af-200fg so I think that's what I'll do. But thanks guys this is the one place where you can actually get good honest advice for everything Pentax.

Hi
I bought a job lot of camera gear from a local auction. I didn't take much time looking at it when I viewed it as I was in a rush to go somewhere else. Anyway I left instructions with the auctioneer to go as far as £20.00. I won it for £8.50. When I picked it up and took it home I found one 2x teleconverter, and three lenses in mint condition all chinon but all mint. I got a 50mm prime f1/9 a 28mm prime f2/8 and a 75-200 f/4. I also got a dozen or so of cokin filters complete with holders etc. There was also Miranda carrying bag also as new. I found an old flash/speedlight which has one main flash and a smaller one on the front. It's a Miranda 930 TCD and yeh that right mint condition etc etc. I'm afraid of putting it on either my K20D or my K30 before I can find out if it will damage either of them. Has anyone got any advice on this flash?
Thanks for taking the time to read this post.

Hi all
I'm thinking about a x3 teleconverter just to get a little more versatility, I have a x2. I've seen a few second hand ones which are decently priced and I'm toying between two of them. One is a pentax version and the other is a Elicar Macronet Close up Converter x3 Tele Converter. I've never seen one before and this one seems to have various settings around the ring. Has anyone any idea of what it's supposed to do, apart that is from a 3x magnification. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks for looking

Metering

Some good responses, I'm not sure about the manuals as I have both and they don't make a whole lot of sense on metering. I think I'll stay with my sekonic for this problem. As for depth of field that's something else I need to work on. I'd like to thank everyone for taking the time and effort to reply to my post.

Metering

Hi
I'm still new to this but can anyone tell me which button do you press to use the camera's built in metering? I have a K20D and a K30. I do have a Sekonic L-308S and I tend to use it quite often, but it would be nice to be able to use both of my camera's metering. Always assuming they actually have built in metering. Any way thanks for taking the time to read this.

I had a look around the net and found a couple of reviews about the K20D. It was apparently nearly £800.00 in the UK and was supposed to a semi pro camera. I wasn't aware of that.
Thanks

Hi all
I have a K30 and have now bought a K20D, I know it seems a little stupid to downgrade but I bought a K20D off EBay. The guy that was selling it said it was in mint condition, that was a slight understatement it was mint and he has had it from new and when it arrived it was new. It has had 86 shutter releases so I'm a very happy bunny. What I would like to know is if my Aputure trigmaster pluss ll 2.4G wireless trigger be ok to use on my K20D, it's great with my K30 but as I've downgraded to the K20D I don't really know. I've had a lot of conflicting answers on that one from various people so I thought that maybe someone here has ever used this combination.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I find it very rare in the UK and rarely see people shooting Pentax. After I bought my first Pentax (a K30) I got an urge to buy a Nikon and I've spent many hours searching for a cheap second hand one. And after all of that searching and finding I finally bought a second hand mint Pentax K20d it's a weird world isn't it?

I've recently been looking at a new pentax 100mm macro lens but they are a little on the expensive side. I have done the usual and spent about a million hours trying to find a decent second hand one (ebay etc). I came across this new Tamron AF 90mm f/2.8 Di-II 1:1 Macro SP lens. Does anyone have any views on this? I want to use it for macro and portrait shots.

Hi all
Thanks to all who answered my query. I found an old focus screen from my pentax K30 camera and me being me I though I would give it a try. I put on rubber gloves put distilled water into my sonic bath and held the screen just above the bottom of the bath. I gave it a couple of minutes and too it out. I then gave it a good shake and as distilled water doesn't leave a residue unlike plain water. I let it dry naturally and tried it the following day and the bath had removed all of the dust and left a clean dust free screen which I put back into my camera. It worked perfectly. I don't suggest that everyone tries it but if you have an old screen that you no longer use and a sonic bath then it might be the way forward, it's certainly cheaper than buying a new one. I would stress however that maybe I was just lucky and I certainly would not advise it on a screen that you currently use, but if you have a dirty one that you will never use and your keeping it buried in the back of a drawer it might be worth a shot.

HI All
Great looking website and nice to be somewhere that actually goes into depth with Pentax systems. I grew up (many many years ago) with what at the time was cutting edge SLR technology. I finally moved to digital recently and what a concept and difference it makes to the old SLR technology. I have the usual few bits of dust on my focus screen and wondered if anyone has ever tried cleaning a focus screen with one of those vibrating water baths that jewellers use to clean gold and diamonds etc. I was deciding whether to put distilled water into the machine I have, which shouldn't leave any streaks on the screen. My plan was to take out my focus screen and while wearing surgical gloves hold it just above the bottom of the machine for a few seconds to see if it eliminates the accumulated dust and dirt. I thought I would try asking here to see if anyone has ever used this method. Anyway thanks in advance for any advice on this matter.
