Looking for a good user Pentax K-5.
It doesn't have to be near mint or anything, although a low shutter count (<10,000) and scratch free LCD would be greatly appreciated.
PM if anything.
Thanks!

The tab does trigger the shutter. Maybe a problem with the pin in the winder then?

It seems to me like the winder isn't driving the shutter action. Again, the winder sounds like it's doing its job, but the shutter isn't firing. Maybe a problem with the electrical contacts that the winder has with the camera?

When it's off the camera and in single shot, the drive head spins continously. Even when I try to stop with the finger, it just keeps on spinning. When set to continous, it doesn't spin. When the winder is mated to the camera, it sounds like as if its winding, but the shutter doesn't fire.

Well, I reattached it to the camera. Both single shot and continous seem to work, at least it sounds like it's trying to advance the frame. I opened the back while holding down the shutter button in continous and I saw that the take-up spool doesn't move, but the winder sounds like it's shooting at a 2 frame per second pace. So, it seems like the winder isn't properly mating to the camera somehow. In single shot, it does trip the shutter, but only after holding down the button for like 2 seconds. After tripping the shutter, every press of the shutter button also makes the main shutter button on the camera go down, but neither the mirror nor the shutter move.

Well it wasn't spinning earlier, but after slapping the part that holds the battery, it started spinning and whirring again. But the spinning is nonstop, even when it's in single shot mode. I'm using fresh alkalines.

I recently acquired a winder for my MX, seems to be in good shape and everything, but when I hook up to the MX it doesn't wind. The red light in the back lights up, It makes noise every time I press the shutter release on the winder, but it doesn't snap a picture or wind. Any help? I've hooked it up to the two MX I have, no change. Also, it's gotten really hot, even if it's off the camera set to single shot.

I was playing around with my MX earlier today, trying to figure out how to do the MLU trick. While flicking the shutter release, apparently the little black tab on the shutter lock went flying and got lost. Do you how can I find a replacement part for it? It's a really cosmetic part, but the shutter lock turns from a switch to a little fork with it, makes unlocking the shutter a bit painful. Thanks!
^ that's the black tab I'm talking about

By on-off switch I meant the ring surrounding the shutter release, shutter lock I think is a more accurate term for it.
Oddly, after slapping the camera softly, the meter started working again.

After several weeks with a meter that would work intermittently, the MX's meter finally died today. I checked the batteries, the on/off switch, the film advance stand off, basically everything, and yet the meter doesn't work when the shutter is half-pressed. The camera had a CLA to fix a broken part almost 6 months ago by Eric, so I doubt that it's the replacement part. Maybe the loose baseplate?

I would like to see if there's a different choice, specially since its a bit of a prized camera.

Lately, my MX has been acting rather odd, with a stiff or mushy shutter release. Well finally today, after taking a picture with it, the shutter button remained down and the wind lever doesn't move. The mirror is also in the viewing position. Any help?

I just shot my penultimate roll of Kodachrome today in Muir Woods, still undecided how to shoot the last one.

I'm planning to do all the stuff that needs complete darkness in a dark room at night, I have windows with metal shutters, so I'm pretty sure its mostly lightproof. I'm planning to do a small batch (the amount that the development tank says for one roll of film) to test it all out. Would it be better if I cut the film leader while it hangs out of the cartridge or leave it there? Also, how do I check the time needed for fixing? I've heard about using the film leader. Thanks.
