Everyone here has been great. I love this forum.
I went out and bought a Sandisk Extreme III 8Gb. We don't seem to get the pricing in Oz that you get in USA, but still...
I went to DigitalCameraWarehouse.com.au and they sell them for $117AUD. I'm buying my camera from Ted's in Melbourne, they first quoted me $169 - but they price-match. SO I got it there for $117. That's great, because I'll get the GST(tax) back on it when I travel to England for the wedding.
BTW, I have 4 Kingston 512Mb 60x cards anyways. They will be my secondary source of storage while I am travelling.
I'll get another large card when 32Gb cards are the same price as 8Gb are now, and 8Gb are 20 bucks! (Probably just a few months away...)

Hi ftpaddict,
I will be doing nature and portrait mainly, no sports, probably jus tthe occasional continuous shooting. I want to capture RAW @ 14.6mpix, so am concerned about the transfer speed. It's possible that, although not continuous shooting, I want to take shots quickly. I have another digital camera (not dslr) that is a real slug when it comes to getting onto the next photo - all because of slow writing the the SD card. It's better with a 60x card in it.
Cheers,
Graeme.

Hi all,
I need to know what kind of SD (SDHC) card to get for my new K20D.
I see all sorts of cards and speeds, but need to know what will suit my camera.
For example, you can get Class 2/4/6, or 60x or 133x, or 9/10Mbps or 20Mps... UltraII or ExtremeIII... the list goes on.
The problem is the price for me. An ExtremeIII card (4Mb) is about 10% of the price of the camera body that I haggled hard to get a good price on in the first place!
But lesser speed cards are 2/3 or even 1/2 price or less.
So, the question: Go for the very fastest? Or will a less fast one suffice?
eg. Buy a SanDisk UltraII at 9Mbps write speed for $50/2Gb, or an ExtremeIII 20Mbps for more than double the price?
What is the writing speed of the K20D to the card anyway??
Long question, I know... maybe it's been asked before, but I haven't picked up my camera from layby till next week, and want to buy the right card for the right price.
Cheers,
Graeme.

Hi Cupic,
You have almost the same equipment as me, except a K20D, even your slingshot!
Thanks for the welcome.
Graeme.

Yes, another Melbournian, but I originally hail from Adelaide, so I'll type slowly...
I am new to Pentax, but an avid amateur photographer for about 30 years. I kinda lost the hobby when I bought my first digiital camera - it was so disappointing I didn't enjoy it any more.
That was 10 years ago. Now my daughter is about to get married so I lashed out and bought myself a K20D with a couple of lenses and a flash (picking it up next week). I'm really looking forward to shooting my daughter's wedding from dad's point-of-view. She's having it professionally shot, and I think I'll probably have enough to do with the wedding itself - but I'll be clicking away through the day!
I'll post some photos of the wedding when I get back (she's getting married in London).
I can really feel a rebirth in my hobby - the specs on the K20D look great, I chose it above the Canon 40D - I think the right decision. I'm also going to get into astro and macro photography too. I have a great telescope to try it on.
Cheers,
Graeme .
