k20 to k50

We have a K30 and it's great, possibly the best bang for the buck we ever got with a digital camera, but I can't compare it to the K20d as I've never seen one.
I wouldn't shoot above ISO 800 if I want a good quality picture, but where some distortion is allowed I've used it successfully up to 25600.
And as far as I'm concerned it's the one beautiful digital K camera Pentax has made so far, but it seems I'm the minority there.

The Q tries to resolve 4000/6.08/2 lp/mm = 329, whereas the Q7 tries to resolve 4000/7.6/2 = 263. The resolvable lp/mm are 400 at f4, ~280 at f5.6, 200 at f8, so you need not worry about diffraction on a Q at f4 and on a Q7 at f5.6.

What lens adapter do I need?

You should research what a lens mount is (it's not hard) before going around buying lenses. You got lucky that the lens you bought does have a mount for which an adapter exists, otherwise there would be little you could do with it. Also, it makes little sense to get multiple lenses, each with a different mount, that way you'll need one adapter per lens. Further, if you got an 85-210 then your next purchase shouldn't be a 75-200, it's almost the same range.

As to working, every lens works in every camera as long as it mounts (even without mounting, but then you'd have to keep holding it and there would be stray light coming in. The issues may be:
- in nearly (all?) cases, nothing 'automatic' will work, since that would require communication between camera and lens, and cameras only know how to talk to their native lenses
- if the flange focal distance of the lens isn't at least a little bigger than the camera's, there's no leeway to make an adapter that will neutralise the difference, hence no infinity focus without corrective glass elements (all of which on the market degrade quality noticeably)
- if the lens has no aperture ring, you'll only be able to change aperture if the adapter specifically supports doing that, which may be easy or difficult depending on the lens mount

Calling out the bloke who rated the Q10 a "1"

I'll have to agree with the reviewer on two specific points:

- The point of having a small camera is that it is small. The Q is small but that is offset by the lack of comparatively small lenses. The point isn't about measuring pockets before buying a camera, but rather about market perception.

- The pint of having an interchangeable lens camera is that you can, well, change lenses. You can't very well change lenses if your only option to buy different ones from what came with your camera is to pay double their cost in shipping and customs, not to mention you have to wait forever, can't handle the item beforehand, and are helpless if some problem occurs. And the fact is that there's one single prime and No hints that another r one is coming! At least there's now 3 complementary zooms.

With all that, my complaint with the Q system is the lack of an optional EVF. I'd love to have that. If not now, in an year or so. The Q could be such a nice modular system if there were accessories like that!
